Hybrid-Beta-Terrain

Datapack  ·  World Generation  ·  1.18+

This datapack re-imagines vanilla terrain to inspire a greater sense of awe, wonder, and beauty. It draws from Beta 1.7.3 and earlier — towering cliffs, floating islands, dramatic overhangs — and blends them into the elegant cascading terrain introduced in 1.18.

The result is a world full of distinct natural landmarks that pull you forward, while staying fully survival-balanced and vanilla-friendly. No new structures. No bizarre new biomes. Just the world, turned up.

Terrain Features

▸  More overhangs, cliffs & floating islands ▸  Larger continents and oceans
▸  Proper sand & gravel beaches ▸  Expansive lakes with small islands
▸  Underground rivers ▸  Smoother land-to-water transitions
▸  Fully traversable rivers by boat ▸  ~55:45 ratio of wild to flat terrain

New Biomes

Seasonal Forest — Beta port. Vibrant green grass, oak-only, high chance for fancy oaks.
Autumnal Forest — Yellowish grass, oak & birch trees, giant mushrooms. Inspired by Notch's Beta 1.8 screenshots.
Temperate Rainforest — Cool green grass, taiga & oak trees, ferns, berry bushes.
Rainforest — Replaces Sparse Jungle. Less dense foliage, more fancy oaks and tall ferns.

Other Biome Changes

▸  Clay now generates on the floor of lukewarm & deep lukewarm oceans (beach blobs removed)
▸  Deeper gravel beds at the bottom of most ocean types
▸  Swamp dark foliage removed; several biome foliage colours adjusted
▸  Sky colours changed to match Beta-era hues across all biomes
▸  Turtles now spawn in Stony Shore  ·  Salmon spawn in higher numbers in Rivers & Frozen Rivers
▸  Jungle biomes less dense than vanilla

Biomes removed: Windswept Savanna, Windswept Forest, Windswept Hills, Windswept Gravelly Hills, Birch Forest, Old Growth Birch Forest
