You were getting used to the silence.
Then a name appeared in the chat.

Formerly Quiet Visitor, Horror Kit turns familiar moments into reasons to hesitate. A name in the chat. A message from a friend who is nowhere nearby. An achievement you were not trying to earn. Choose what finds its way into your world.

An ordinary name in the chat

A brief hello. A question that sounds meant for someone else. Some visitors talk; others join, linger, and leave without a word. Names and visit lengths vary, so the next arrival does not have to feel like the last.

It notices what you are doing

A speaking visitor can react to mining, crafting, danger, doors, and the things you do while they are there. Conversations can bring quiet sounds or nearby wooden-door movements. Sometimes the timing is the part that stays with you.

Give it time

Long pauses leave room to get back to playing. Replies vary, recent scenes are remembered, and unfinished stories can return with the same narrator. A conversation can keep someone around longer. Silence can be an encounter of its own.

Some stories should have ended

Ask who they are. Ask what happened. 15 branching stories and 45 endings include forgotten shifts, rising water, empty stations, borrowed voices, and a winter roof. Listen to what their lives became, choose how you answer, and decide whether you want to hear the rest. Some endings suggest their story is following you now.

Was that really your friend?

While a visitor is present, a distant online friend's name can occasionally appear in a false join or leave notice. A message might repeat something they recently said—or tell you they are coming. The imitation is private to you; your friend has not actually reconnected or sent it.

The rain comes afterward

A finished story can leave a short spell of rain behind. Sometimes distant thunder follows. Sometimes there is only rain. The aftermath fades back to the world's real weather, without damaging lightning or changing the weather for everyone else.

Choose what finds you

On first launch and after an update, a main-menu setup lets you choose random join / leave messages, quiet visitor message bots, and random horror achievements independently. Tick the parts you want, confirm, and keep those choices in your config.

Do you see me?

36 horror advancements turn ordinary actions into unsettling moments. After at least five minutes of play, staring into the night can make “Do you see me?” possible. Waiting in darkness, looking into the depths, or lingering alone in the rain have their own surprises. A visitor does not have to be present.

Made for your modpack

Include config/quietvisitor-client.toml when exporting your pack to carry over the selected features and completed setup. The confirmation screen reminds you. Reopen it with /horrorkitsetup. Server settings let you adjust pacing, intensity, sounds, visitors, and achievements.

Before your first visit

Use Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge 47.4.20+ · Java 17. Install on the client for the setup menu; server-only encounters support command-based preferences. Replace older Quiet Visitor / Horror Kit JARs and remove Horror Messages Forge and ScaryMessages. Existing settings and progress keep their legacy names. Use /quietvisitor mute or /quietvisitor unmute to pause or resume your encounters. Dialogue is written locally; no online AI service is required.
