A mod that adds a new biome, the Hill Country, alongside a new mob, new ores, and new foliage!

Description

This is a simple mod that adds the Hill Country biome to the game. This biome is based off of the Texas Hill Country, complete with new foliage (such as bluebonnets and prickly pear cacti), underground generation (such as limestone), and a new mob, the Armadillo!

Total Additions:

  • 1 new biome - the Hill Country.
  • 1 new mob - the Armadillo!
  • 4 new types of foliage, including 2 new flowers, the Bluebonnet and the Indian Paintbrush, and the harvestable Prickly Pear Cacti!
  • 1 new food item - the Prickly Pear.
  • 1 new tree and wood type - Cedar! Can be crafted into slabs, stairs, doors, etc.
  • 1 new stone variant - Limestone!
  • 3 new ores - Blue Topaz, Opal, and Pyrite!
  • 3 new music discs - crepuscular, sunset on the desert, and still no rest! Each track was produced solely by lorefiend.

The Hill Country biome will spawn alongside vanilla biomes in default world generation. It is a dry, forested, plains- and savanna-like biome, and will spawn alongside similar biomes. The biome is populated by cedar and acacia trees, alongside flowers like dandelions, alliums, oxeye daisies, and peonies. Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes can be found only in this biome, and can be crafted into blue and orange dye, respectively. Prickly pear cacti are also found here, and can be harvested for fruit.

The Hill Country is also home to unique ores. Blue topaz and opal are two gem ores unique to this biome, and can be crafted into gem blocks. Blue topaz, in particular, is used to craft a very special item....

Pyrite ore is another new ore added with this mod. Living up to its nickname of fool's gold, this ore may trick you into thinking you've found gold ore instead!

New wildlife roams the wilds of the Hill Country, as well. Armadillos can be found across the landscape of this biome - perhaps you can feed them?

This mod also adds three new music tracks in the form of music discs: crepuscular, sunset on the desert, and still no rest. Produced by lorefiend, these tracks encapsulate the spirit of the western wilderness. Though these can't be found or crafted in vanilla survival, they can be accessed from the Music tab and played via the Jukebox.
