# Spore AI 2.8.0-beta — Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge

This update brings the latest Mind appearance and Calamity presentation work to Forge 1.20.1, alongside the corrected metamorphosis requirements. Existing 2.8.0-beta.1 features and Forge fixes are retained.

## Mind appearances

- Added the F8 appearance selector with model previews and individual Mind selections. Selections remain local to the client and are scoped to the current world or server.
- Ported the native YSM bridge to Yes Steve Model 2.6.5 for Forge 1.20.1. Appearance proxies follow the original entity's equipment, movement, sleeping, riding, and hand-crank pose.
- Added a separate client appearance addon. Its installer preserves models edited by players and retains the bundled attribution and licenses.
- Entity-only appearances are filtered from the YSM player skin menu without removing them from the shared model catalog.
- Missing YSM or unavailable models retain the original entity appearance.

## Calamity presentation and riding

- Added native YSM presentation for Sieger, Howitzer, Hohlfresser, Gazenbreacher, Kraken, Hindenburg, Leviathan, Stahl, and Verfall.
- Synced cosmetic attack and combat states, including model variants driven by adaptation and damaged body parts, where supported by the bundled models.
- Ported multipart visibility, grab tendrils, electrical effects, tar effect origins, and humanoid riding-seat presentation. Visual replacements preserve the original gameplay entities and hitboxes.
- Riding-seat updates still require the actual rider and the existing exact-Mind ownership and affection checks on the server.

## Metamorphosis fix

- Metamorphosis now requires one Totem of Undying, one Nether Star, and one Dragon Egg offered to the same Mind. Duplicate offerings or offerings to another Mind cannot substitute for a missing item.
- Repairs incomplete legacy preparation states while keeping recorded offerings. Existing cocoons and transformed Mind Girls are preserved.
- Updated both handbook languages to state that the Dragon Egg is mandatory. Rescue and affection requirements still apply.
- Retains the earlier Forge metamorphosis particle crash fix.

## Installation

- Minecraft **1.20.1**, Forge **47.4.10**, Java **17**.
- Required: **Fungal Infection: Spore 2.2.0j for Forge 1.20.1**.
- Handbook: **Patchouli 1.20.1-84.1-FORGE**. Optional integrations: **Create 6.0.8** and **TACZ 1.1.8-hotfix**, using their Forge 1.20.1 builds.
- For the new appearances, install **spore_ai_ysm-1.0.0-beta.1+mc1.20.1-forge.jar** on the client and use **Yes Steve Model 2.6.5-forge+mc1.20.1**. Follow YSM's server installation requirements when playing multiplayer. The addon does not bundle YSM.
- Replace the previous Spore AI JAR. Update the server and all clients together: the Forge network protocol is now **forge-1.20.1-4** and is incompatible with older versions.
- Back up your world before updating. This release does not downgrade 1.21.1 worlds or provide Sable moving-subworld support.
