Bug Fixes

[0.0.3] - 2026-08-03

Added

  • Skill Tree got a big content expansion this update, including a brand new fourth branch:
    • Combat: Keen Edge, Sharp Edge, Grave Robber, Heavy Swing, Scroll Sense (+3% chance to get a Skill Scroll from slaying monsters), Windfall (10% chance for mobs to drop double loot), Experienced (+10% experience from slaying mobs).
    • Mining: Fortunate Find, Lucky Strike, Steady Hands, Deep Diver, Extended Reach (+1 block reach while holding a pickaxe), Master Prospector (+1 Fortune for Pickaxes, stacks with Fortunate Find), Coal Expert (+15% experience from mining coal), Lucky Find (5% chance for a bonus Gold Nugget from mining ore).
    • Vitality: Light Steps, Thick Hide, Iron Will, Sturdy Stance, Hearty Appetite (hunger drains 10% slower), Sure-Footed (-5% Fall Damage, stacks with Light Steps).
    • Forging (new branch): all about the gear you craft, baking bonuses into each item the moment you make it — Reinforced Plating (+0.5 Armor on crafted armor), Reinforced Bracing (+1 Armor on crafted shields), Quickwork (+20% mine/chop/break speed on crafted tools), Honed Edge (+1 Attack Damage on crafted swords), Master's Touch (+5% Crit Chance on crafted tools and weapons), Frugal Smithing (small chance to not consume an ingredient when crafting), Efficient Smelting (small chance for a bonus ingot when smelting), and Cheap Repairs (anvil repairs on gear you crafted cost less experience). Bonuses are baked in at crafting time, so unlocking a new Forging node only affects gear you craft from then on.
  • Skill tree nodes can now show custom icons instead of a plain number. The first 5 are in for Mining: Swift Pick, Bonus Ore, Frostveil Prospector, Lucky Strike, and Fortunate Find.
  • Reset Scroll: trade in a Skill Scroll to craft one. Use it to reset your whole Skill Tree and get back every point you've spent. Won't be consumed if there's nothing to reset.
  • Frostveil armor now has a set bonus: wear the full helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots together for +2 Armor Toughness and total immunity to freezing. Each piece's description shows the bonus dimmed and grayed out until you're wearing the whole set, then lights up once you are.
  • Frost Ore and Deepslate Frost Ore: a new pair of ores that generate underground and up on mountains throughout snowy and cold biomes, a bit rarer than Iron Ore. Mine them with an Iron Pickaxe or better, then smelt the raw ore into a Frost Ingot - the material used for Frost tools.
  • The Frost Sword, Frost Axe, and Frost Pickaxe now have an 11% Critical Hit Chance, shown right on their tooltip.
  • Better compatibility with other mods: Frost Ingot now works with other mods' "any ingot" recipes (Frostveil Bar already did), Raw Frostveil and Raw Frost Ore now work with "any raw material" recipes, and all Frostveil tools and armor are now recognized by other mods as normal swords, pickaxes, axes, shovels, hoes, and armor pieces.
  • Frostveil Ore, Frost Ore, and Winter Berry Bushes should now also generate in Biomes O' Plenty's cold and snowy biomes, not just vanilla ones.
  • New Advancements for the Frost tier: Chilly Discovery (mine Raw Frost Ore), Forge the Frost (obtain a Frost Ingot), and First in Frost (craft a Frost Pickaxe).
  • Advancements reorganized: Critical Strike, Growing Stronger, and Berry Picker now branch directly off the starting point as their own separate lines, instead of being bundled in after the material progression. The material line itself now starts with Frost instead of Frostveil: Chilly Discovery → Forge the Frost → First in Frost → A Deeper Chill (renamed from Frosty Discovery, now that discovering Frost comes first) → Refine the Cold → Isn't it Cold Pick / Covered in Frost.
  • If you have FTB Quests installed, you'll now be handed its quest book the first time you join a new world.
  • Frost Shovel and Frost Hoe: craftable from a Frost Ingot and Sticks, same as the rest of the Frost toolset. Like the other Frost tools, they carry an 11% Critical Hit Chance shown right on their tooltip, and other mods will recognize them as normal shovels and hoes.
  • Frost Armor: a new helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots set crafted from Frost Ingots, sitting between Iron and Diamond armor in protection and durability. Wear the full set for its bonus: you no longer slide around on ice or other slippery blocks. Each piece's tooltip shows its durability and how close you are to completing the set, the same way Frostveil armor does.
  • Curios API compatibility: if you have Curios installed, two new accessories can be worn in an accessory slot. The mod works completely fine without Curios installed too - you just won't have anywhere to wear them.
    • Frostveil Charm - +0.5 Attack Damage and +15% experience gained. Craft it from a Frostveil Bar and an Emerald.
    • Frost Core - +1 Heart, +5% Movement Speed, and lets you walk on Powder Snow without sinking in, the same as leather boots. Craft it from a Frost Ingot and a Diamond.
  • The Skill Tree screen now shows your Level next to your Skill Points - it only ever goes up, even if you spend points or use a Reset Scroll.

Changed

  • The Skill Tree is no longer split across separate Combat/Mining/Vitality tabs you had to switch between, and no longer sits in a smaller window. It's now one connected, full-screen tree that starts from a single node at the top - unlock it first to awaken your path (also grants +1 Heart of Max Health), then Combat and Vitality run out fully to the left and right, and Mining straight down. The starting node is bigger than the rest with a soft glow around it, the Vitality branch's color changed from icy cyan to green, and there's more breathing room between every node.
  • The "Skill Tree" heading is gone, and Skill Points and the XP bar have moved to the top-left corner instead of sitting centered at the top.
  • Some side nodes now unlock earlier in their branch, since each one is now tied to a specific main node instead of just two checkpoints.
  • The Frost Pickaxe is now the first pickaxe able to mine Frostveil Ore, with a Diamond Pickaxe as the next tier up. A regular Iron Pickaxe can no longer mine it.
  • Slightly reduced the mining speed of the Frost tools. Frostveil tools are unaffected and keep their original speed.
  • Frost Iron has been renamed to Frost Ingot.
  • Frost Ingot can no longer be crafted directly from an Iron Ingot and a Snowball - mining and smelting Frost Ore is now the only way to get it.
  • Frostveil Ore is now as rare to find as Diamond Ore, but when you do find a vein, it's noticeably bigger than before.
  • Scrolling to zoom the Skill Tree now zooms in on wherever your mouse is pointing, instead of always zooming toward the middle of the tree.
  • The standard Minecraft attack cooldown is back - swinging too fast now deals reduced damage like vanilla. Attack Speed is a real, meaningful stat again and is now shown right on your weapon's tooltip, next to Attack Damage.
  • Leveling up the Skill Tree now gets progressively harder the further you go - each skill point you earn raises how much XP the next one needs, instead of every point always costing a flat 100 XP.
  • Removed the Auto-Smelt node from the Mining branch. Mining now finishes with Extended Reach and Master Prospector instead.
  • The Bonuses screen now shows just each perk's effect instead of its name, so you can fit more on screen at once - green once you've unlocked it, dimmed while it's still locked.

    Fixed

    • Fixed every Frostveil and Frost sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel, and hoe being held like a flat block instead of a proper tool - they now show up gripped at the correct angle in your hand, like vanilla tools do.
    • Fixed the Attack Range stat added by other combat mods (like Better Combat) showing up at the very top of the tooltip - it now appears right under Attack Damage, alongside the other combat stats.
    • Fixed Winter Berry Bushes sometimes generating up in tree canopies instead of on the ground.
    • Weapon tooltips now remind you that you can hold Alt to hide your active buffs - previously that hint only showed up after you'd already started holding Alt.
    • Fixed several bugs where dragging the Skill Tree view could fly outside its own window, get stuck when the tree didn't fit on screen, or refuse to budge at all once it did fit. Dragging is now free in every direction, all the way to (and well past) the screen's edges.
    • Fixed the Mining branch's bonus nodes overlapping and crowding into the main upgrades below them.
    • The Frostveil Axe, Frost Axe, Frostveil Sword, and Frost Sword can now be enchanted with Sharpness.
    • Locked entries on the Bonuses screen were nearly impossible to read against the background - they're legible now.
