Ferns to use.
It is what the mod is called.
Now ferns arent useless anymore. Put em to use!
Shear them, get the jute stalks, cook some to eat, tho dont expect to much saturation.
But what you really can do now, is to make jute bundles, add water,
create burlap, and then burlap into leather.
Leather? Yes you can now skip finding cows, and you can use a survial methode instead.
Crafting methode:

Shearing 8 ferns give you 4 jute stalks.
You need 8 jute stalks to create 1 jute bundle.
You need 6 jute bundles and one water bucket to get 3 retted jute blocks.
Then you will need 3 retted jute blocks to create 3 burlap.
When you put 8 burlap in the crafting table, you will get 3 leather.
You can cook jute stalks in the furnace. You will get cooked jute stalks.
They give very low saturation and hunger. These are good to eat for emergency survival.
