EnderIO Legacy Darksteel Changelog

0.4.9 — Powered Tool Durability Absorption

Added

  • Restored legacy-style Empowered durability protection for Dark Steel tools and weapons.
  • Pickaxes, axes, shovels, shears, bows and swords can now use stored FE to absorb tool durability damage.
  • Tool durability absorption uses the same Empowered chances as the armor system:
    • Empowered I: 50%
    • Empowered II: 60%
    • Empowered III: 70%
    • Empowered IV: 85%
    • Empowered V: 95%

Changed

  • Energy is now consumed only when durability damage is actually absorbed.
  • Removed the older fixed per-block mining energy drain from pickaxes, axes and shovels.
  • Normal tool usage is now handled through the powered durability absorption path.
  • Removed the older fixed bow-shot energy drain.
  • Bow durability protection now uses the same powered durability absorption logic as the other tools.

Kept

  • Explosive Mining extra-block behavior remains separate:
    • 20 FE per extra block broken.
    • 30% durability chance per extra block.
  • If Explosive Mining applies durability damage, Empowered can now absorb that durability damage using stored FE.

0.4.8 — Powered Armor Absorption

Added

  • Restored Ender IO 1.12-style Empowered armor power absorption.
  • Empowered armor can now use stored FE to absorb armor durability damage.
  • Armor durability absorption uses the legacy chances:
    • Empowered I: 50%
    • Empowered II: 60%
    • Empowered III: 70%
    • Empowered IV: 85%
    • Empowered V: 95%

Changed

  • Armor energy absorption is applied to durability damage, not as a free direct reduction to player damage.
  • Kept the powered Armor and Armor Toughness bonuses restored in version 0.4.7.
  • Padding remains removed.

0.4.7 — Powered Armor Parity and Padding Removal

Added

  • Restored powered Armor and Armor Toughness bonuses for Dark Steel, End Steel and Stellar armor.
  • Armor pieces now gain their powered stats only while they have Empowered installed and stored energy.

Powered Armor Values

Dark Steel

  • Boots: 3 Armor
  • Leggings: 6 Armor
  • Chestplate: 8 Armor
  • Helmet: 3 Armor
  • Toughness: 2

End Steel

  • Boots: 5 Armor
  • Leggings: 8 Armor
  • Chestplate: 12 Armor
  • Helmet: 5 Armor
  • Toughness: 4

Stellar

  • Boots: 10 Armor
  • Leggings: 15 Armor
  • Chestplate: 22 Armor
  • Helmet: 10 Armor
  • Toughness: 9

Removed

  • Removed the Padding upgrade completely from:
    • item registration
    • recipes
    • smithing recipes
    • item models
    • language entries
    • upgrade registration

Changed

  • Removed the incorrect custom Resistance-like damage reduction layer.
  • Protection now comes from powered armor stats, toughness, enchantments and durability absorption.

0.4.6 — Legacy Upgrade Parity Pass

Changed

  • Step Assist no longer requires Empowered, Jump or energy.
  • Step Assist no longer drains FE while walking.
  • Flippers were changed from a Dolphin's Grace effect to a swim-speed modifier.
  • Flippers now use values closer to Ender IO 1.12:
    • normal swim speed bonus: 2.5
    • with Depth Strider: 0.05
  • Night Vision no longer consumes FE every tick.
  • Sound Detector now uses legacy-style values:
    • 40 block range
    • 40 tick marker duration
  • Removed the broad generic Forge Event handler previously used for Padding.
  • Improved Explosive Mining target filtering with modern Forge/Minecraft tags.
  • Added a stronger early-return in player tick handling so players without relevant Dark Steel items avoid heavier upgrade logic.

0.4.5 — The Ender Teleport Parity

Fixed

  • Added missing Enderman teleport cancellation for entities hit by a powered Dark Steel / The Ender sword.
  • Endermen hit by a powered sword are now marked and prevented from teleporting away, matching the legacy Ender IO behavior more closely.

Verified

  • Depth and Carpeting are not mutually exclusive.
  • Depth and Carpeting can be installed together and produce a combined Explosive Mining shape.
  • Powered sword bonuses match the legacy defaults:
    • Empowered I: +1 damage, +0.40 attack speed
    • Empowered II: +2 damage, +0.45 attack speed
    • Empowered III: +3 damage, +0.50 attack speed
    • Empowered IV: +4 damage, +0.55 attack speed
    • Empowered V: +5 damage, +0.60 attack speed
  • Powered sword hit cost remains 750 FE.

0.4.4 — Legacy Explosive Mining Parity

Changed

  • Reworked Explosive Mining to follow the Ender IO 1.12 behavior more closely.
  • Explosive area shape now follows the legacy AOE model:
    • Explosive only: cubic AOE.
    • Explosive + Carpeting: wider flat plane.
    • Explosive + Depth: narrow forward-depth shape.
    • Explosive + Carpeting + Depth: combined plane/depth behavior.
  • Explosive AOE now uses the side of the block being mined.
  • Explosive Mining now costs 20 FE per extra block broken.
  • Explosive Mining now uses a legacy-style target list instead of breaking any block the tool can mine.
  • Dirt-like targets are handled through the Spoon upgrade, matching the legacy target logic more closely.
  • Explosive Mining avoids blocks with block entities or inventories by default.
  • Explosive Mining skips blocks harder than the originally mined block.
  • Explosive Mining uses the legacy 30% durability chance per extra block.

0.4.3 — Tree Harvest Shift Behavior

Changed

  • Changed Tree Harvest activation behavior for axes.
  • Tree Harvest now works the way requested:
    • Tree Harvest ON + holding Shift: cut the whole tree.
    • Tree Harvest ON + not holding Shift: break only the targeted log.
    • Tree Harvest OFF: always break only the targeted log.
  • Kept legacy-style values:
    • radius: 12
    • height: 30
    • cost: 1500 FE per extra log
    • speed penalty: 4x while harvesting a tree

0.4.2 — Tool Toggles, Glider and Energy Improvements

Added

  • Added keybind for Toggle Carpeting Mode.
  • Added keybind for Toggle Axe Tree Harvest.

Changed

  • Glider behavior was adjusted closer to Ender IO 1.12:
    • horizontal speed: 0.03
    • vertical speed: -0.05
    • sprinting vertical speed: -0.15
  • Removed continuous FE drain from Glider behavior.
  • Hardened item energy capability handling to reduce issues with chargers draining energy without properly filling the item.

0.4.1 — Explosive Toggle and Solar Rework

Added

  • Added keybind for Toggle Explosive Mining.
  • Explosive Mining can now be enabled or disabled per tool.

Changed

  • Explosive toggle affects:
    • Explosive I-V
    • Carpeting
    • Depth
    • Penetration behavior tied to Explosive Mining
  • Solar upgrades were reworked for Ender IO 1.20.1 item availability.
  • Removed the unavailable basic solar tier.
  • Solar now has 3 tiers:
    • Solar I: Energetic Photovoltaic Module
    • Solar II: Pulsating Photovoltaic Module
    • Solar III: Vibrant Photovoltaic Module

Solar Generation

  • Solar I: 40 FE/s
  • Solar II: 80 FE/s
  • Solar III: 160 FE/s

0.4.0 — Server Smithing Conflict Fix

Fixed

  • Fixed a dedicated server smithing conflict with Ender IO's generic enderio:dark_steel_upgrade recipe.
  • Upgrade items now use a private marker for this mod instead of relying on Ender IO's generic upgrade marker.
  • Smithing now writes the mod's stable DarkSteelUpgrades tag as the primary source of truth.
  • Reduced cases where upgrades appeared to apply client-side but disappeared after server sync.
