Elder Origins - Major Update Changelog

⚠️ Important

Thank you to everyone who continued following Elder Origins. We apologize for the long break without updates - this update became larger than originally planned, and the mod is now more stable, more convenient, and better prepared for future development.

This update includes major compatibility improvements, race changes, new mechanics, skins, keybind customization, mod size optimization, and many bug fixes.

If you had one of the removed races selected before updating, you may need to reset your race or choose a new one after the update.

🧩 Compatibility

- The required Fabric Loader version has been lowered to 0.17.2.
- This should make the mod easier to launch for more players.
- Players no longer need to update Fabric to a newer version just to run Elder Origins.

🛠️ Bug Fixes

- Fixed many bugs.
- Improved overall mod stability.
- Fixed issues that could affect race abilities, gameplay, and synchronization.
- The mod size has been reduced to around 0.8 MB thanks to race portrait optimization.

⌨️ Keybind Customization

- Mod controls can now be changed in the Minecraft Controls settings.
- Added customizable actions:
  - Use Race Ability
  - Open Race Selection
  - Open Race Profile
- Players can assign their own preferred keys instead of using the default ones.

🔄 New Race Change Feature

- You can now change your race during gameplay by pressing I.
- This feature is only available when cheats are enabled or when the player has admin/operator permissions on a server.
- This was added for easier testing, server setup, and quickly fixing situations where a player needs to change their race.

🧛 Vampire Changes

New Bite Mechanic

Vampires can now bite mobs by right-clicking them.

- Biting passive mobs restores hunger.
- If the vampire reaches full hunger, the bitten passive mob dies after 4 seconds.
- When biting a hostile mob, the mob does not take damage, but the vampire receives 0.5 HP damage.

Reworked Bat Form

- Bat Form now lasts 30 seconds.
- Bat Form cooldown is now 40 seconds.
- Bat Form can now be cancelled early by pressing the ability key again.
- Improved Bat Form behavior when changing dimensions: the visual bat is now recreated correctly.

🏹 Elf Changes

- Removed the glow effect from hits.
- Arrow and projectile damage for elves is now increased by 2x.

📜 Descriptions and Interface

- Race descriptions have been rewritten.
- Descriptions now better explain each race's playstyle, real strengths, and real weaknesses.
- Russian and English texts have been updated.
- Improved readability in the race selection and race profile interfaces.

🎨 Race Skins

- Added custom skins for every available race.
- Race selection should now feel more unique and visually distinct.

🧬 Race Changes

Removed Races

The following races have been removed from the mod:

- Human
- Stormtouched
- Umbral
- Giant
- Verdant

New Race

- Added a new race: Assassin.
