What's new

Create: Dynamic Village v0.8

Full details in DATAPACK.md and DEVELOPER_SPEC.md.

Village building chests used to spawn completely empty. They don't anymore.

Chest loot

  • Workshop chests now generate with randomized, Create-themed loot, rolled when you first open them — the same way vanilla village chests work.
  • Loot is profession-appropriate: miners get ores and drilling materials, train mechanics get track and casing parts, plumbers get fluid and copper gear.
  • Modest chest rewards. Cheap materials and some vanilla items.
  • Only affects newly generated villages.

Structure fixes

  • Rebuilt the savanna miner and savanna train buildings. Both were carving a ring of empty blocks into the ground around themselves.

Villager professions

  • Fixed a bug where a custom profession defined with a block tag would silently never appear. Job sites are now listed as blocks directly.
  • A broken profession config can no longer crash your game on startup — bad entries are skipped with an explanation in the log.

For data pack & mod developers

  • Assign loot to any building's chests with a one-line file — your own buildings, or re-loot this mod's.
  • Load conditions now work on loot assignments too, matching trades and buildings.
  • Better failure messages: a loot table nothing provides now warns at startup instead of quietly giving you empty chests; ignored fields, out-of-range values, and malformed conditions all say so.
  • New loot JSON schema for editor autocomplete, an updated profession schema, a loot example in the sample pack, and expanded DATAPACK.md.
  • The README is now actual documentation instead of the NeoForge template boilerplate.
