28 Jan 2026 - Dreamwoods BETA-2.1 "VanillaConfigs":
BETA ONLY! IMPORTANT NOTES!
This version is BETA-only, and most likely will never be a full release, because:
- It adds configs to toggle on/off custom Dreamwoods trees in Vanilla biomes, as well as a config to change biome colors of vanilla biomes. This is not the way I initially wanted this mod to be, because I've been designing this mod as a vanilla-changer from the very beginning, it've always been the main goal.
- However, this update may be useful for those, who would like to use other data-based mods, that change vanilla biomes/ or for those, who simply don't like the Dreamwoods vanilla biomes look.
- It uses forge biome modifiers to toggle on/off features in vanilla biomes and custom Dreamwoods trees from .jsons (I don't see any other solution to this problem). Forge modifiers cause massive incompatibilities with almost every biome mod existing. These issues are caused by "Feature Cycle" issues, caused by odd modern Minecraft code desicions. The only way to make this BETA work with other mods - is to install Feature Recycler mod, so it would be included as a dependency for this particular version. With this addition, it seems to work well.
- This mod branch would be independant from the main one.
- All plants added by Dreamwoods and grass/flowers changes made will still be present in vanilla biomes
- * This version works well with BiomeColorizer mod, biome colors from BiomeColorizer are found to have a higher priority.
Dreamwoods BETA-2.1 "VanillaConfigs" Changelog:
- Biome Modifiers system established to allow conditional adding/removing .json features from vanilla biomes and biome-recoloring
- Changing anything in the config files requires game restart
Additional changes:
- Reindeer moss is now properly plantable and can be used to heal with shift-right-click
- Added config option to toggle on/off emissive rendering for huge mushrooms and some plants (shaders compatibility feature)
- Hanging flowers are now not inherited from LeavesBlock and not considered as leaves to prevent issues with Foliage Culling mods
- code cleanup
- some other small fixes
Dreamwoods Release 2.0 Changelog:
Blocks removed:
- small horsetail waterplant, lilac tree flowers, purple hyacinth, white and black calla, blue and orange poppy, fireflower (was too cheaty)
**Due to overall giant quantity of plants, some of them were removed, because they were IMO not so essential to the look and not so pretty compared to the others (and I didn't want to bother retexturing them). The very initial design of this mod was based on idea of returning lost plants from Untouched Nature mod, but over time this project has developed itself as a new solid mod, so i had to decide what features I want to keep.
Big biomes changes!
! Highalnds, Volcano Slopes, Taiga Shield were removed.
Biome Layout has been changed to remove biomes, mentioned above and add new one; to make swamps flatter; "shattered" biomes moved to "plateau" (windswept biomes and others) to stop messing the swamps; noises changed to achieve more interesting highlands shapes and smoother main lands.
- New Biome - Lush Coniferous Forest! - to cherish the memory of my favourite biome from oldschool ExtraBiomesXl

- Morass has it's trees fixed to be more consistently existent

- Flowering Fields finally reaches harmony with new flowers, new color scheme, silver cypress trees and new lavender textures
- Bayou gets a nice update with new roots, new hanging bayou leaves and more cohesive spanish moss color
- Twilight Wetlands gets new mystical hanging spore blossoms

Other big changes:

New treegen options! (some of them are still WIP, and these are no interest to a player):

- fixed Ice tree blocks transparency
- fixed bugs in recipes and loot-tables
- fixed flammability and explosion toughness for many blocks
- fixed epiphytes plants (like orchids) spawning habits
- fixed potted rose bushes drops and some others

- fixed black shadows on some plants with big 3D models when near another block+smooth lighting is on
- fixed Clay Dirt blocks to be properly appreciated by vanilla grass when overgrowing (no more grass under the clay dirt)
- Hopefully fixed new saplings patterns growth once again
- Cleaned .json files from tons of unused blockchecks from the old treegen core (should improve performance even more)
- Overall cleaned tons of data from remaining duplicates (from the old vanilla variant)
- other fixes
Dreamwoods 2.0 BETA changelog:
- Full code rework to make the mod code more modern, easy to manage and much easier to update
- NO MORE OTTYG DEPENDENCY! Works on my own new integrated tree-gen core, that has lots of advantages and removes all annoying old issues * (described under the spoiler below!)
- New blocks! Bayou roots! Boats, signs, buttons and pressure plates for all wood types!
- 3*3 and 4*4 HUGE saplings patterns for huge trees! Trees affected: redwood, bald cypress, old oak, great oak, great willow, baobab, autumnal tree
- Some saplings growing patterns reworked to be more logical
- Old Growth Swampland reworked
- All vines can grow and are bonemealable!
- Some tags fixes, recipes fixes like using slabs for barrels etc
- * Beta textures : bald cypress log and bayou roots
NEW TREEGEN CORE DETAILS!
- The most important! No more waiting for the bug fixes from another team! No more annoying FAQ about old versions using and so on! All is under my control now!=)
- No more destructive trees ruining structures, intersecting each other and breaking your house!
- Trees now respect each other and surroundings
- However, this leads to saplings checking for available space, so the saplings for the big trees will need a lot of space to grow
- No more floating tree parts and other strange artifacts
- New tree decorator for fallen leaves under the tree
- New trunk and foliage placers for configured features to create more nice vanilla-inspired trees algorithmically if needed
- Ability to use the whole tree as a structure (compared to OTTYG - no more trunk and canopy parts!) and still have adjustable trunk height even for thick trees without any troubles
- The feature spawns all the structure unless some blocks were excluded in the config, which is more logical
- Option to turn on/off leaves detection to allow or prevent intesecting leaves (true by default)
DREAMWOODS 2.0 is finally here!
TWO (!!!) official Dreamwoods "Bushy Leaves" resourcepacks are integrated! Just install the mod, launch the game and you will get 2 resourcepacks in your resourcepacks folder! DWBushyLeaves.zip - is an ordinary modern better leaves one (has AmbientOcclusion and smaller leaves), and DWBushyLeaves-DENSE-No-AO.zip - has no Ambient Occlusion (no shaded artifacts, but looks brighter) and much denser leaves, different trees will have different models applied with this one (less dense foliage for flowering trees).
Please be sure to place the DW BushyLeaves resourcepack ABOVE other bushy leaves resourcepacks to prevent possible issues!
IMPORTANT NOTES!
Dreamwoods 2.0 would be incompatible with old worlds because of massive registry names and biome layout changes!
If you've experienced some bugs with the mod, that's the time to paste them here or to the Github. So they will more likely be fixed in the upcoming beta/releases!
Resourcepacks comparison:
Dense bushy leaves, no AO:

If you prefer a mod with no custom blocks added, try Dreamwoods Original - the same biomes, but with vanilla blocks only!
If you want just vanilla biomes rework with no extra biomes or blocks- try Dreamwoods Redux.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DREAMWOODS is a biome mod, that adds many new biomes- both realistic and fantasy, and changes the appearance of most vanilla biomes by making trees bigger as well as adding other vegetation and small terrain features. Dreamwoods offers a new inspirational experience, remaining close to minecraft vanilla visuals, and mindfully picks all colours and features to suit biomes perfectly.
Dreamwoods is data-based mod and it's biomes will only spawn in vanilla regions if Terrablender mods are present.
I recommend using Dreamwoods as a standalone worldgen mod to see it in it's full beauty. It has a lot of biomes and stuff, so the world with eg Dreamwoods+BOP+BWG+RU would be a total cluttered mess. Avoid using too many biome mods at once!
This project is a spiritual successor to my Woodlands series and older mods, like Untouched Nature. The style is much more vanilla-friendly this time and foliage is finally properly decaying! *
* Except for Palm, because their leaves placement still don't follow the vanilla rules.
Dreamwoods mod adds:
- 59 new biome + most overworld vanilla biomes overhaul
- Lots of new plants and flowers, waterplants and vines
- All trees in both vanilla and custom biomes were remade to be bigger and more real
Biomes Mods Compatibility:
Should be compatible with all mods made on Terrablender.
Most likely incompatible with mods, made on datapack-system, as they would conflict with Dreamwoods system in some way: overwrite, change or mess it, or simply stop one of them from working at all.
Should be prety fine with not-biome mods.
Dreamwoods adds lots of tags to biomes, blocks and items to ensure maximum possible compatibility. If another mod does it's spawning the right way- using biome tags, stuff would spawn correctly. If another mod does it's recipes or interractions correctly- using items and blocks tags, they would have compatibility. For any other cases mods like Craft Tweaker would be useful.
Dreamwoods is a data-based mod, so configs for biomes are not possible until it is ported to Terrablender
Tested compatibility:
- Serene Seasons ( see spoiler below for tags!)
- Moderner Beta
- Tree Chop
set "maxBreakLeavesDistance" to higher numbers (10-13) for bigger trees and "ignorePersistentLeaves = false" to remove leaves fron Palm and weeping willows, if you want
- Tree Harvester
"ignorePlayerMadeTrees": false (to remove Palm and weeping willow leaves)
- Panda Falling Tree
"maxLeavesRadius": 10, "maxLogAmount": 500, "shouldFallOnMaxLogAmount": false, "shouldIgnorePersistentLeaves": false (to remove Palm and weeping willow leaves)

"Blacklisted biomes" (no seasonal changes): Ice Abyss, Ice Grove, Volcano Slopes and Volcano Fields.
"Lesser color change biomes" (just slightly change colors, still have seasons): Twilight Wetlands, Thaumic Grove, Sacred Giants Wood, Autumnal Hills, Autumnal Wood, Morass, Seasonal Grove, Ruby Maple Forest, Wet Larch Forest, Golden Aspen Spinney, Grim Woods, Fall Fruitfull Grove, Fall Snowy Grove, Tundra
Can be changed inside mod's .jar , follow data/sereneseasons... path.
Partially compatible:
- WWOO (William Wyther's Overhauled Overworld) - works, but biomes may look unpredictable
- Dynamic Trees (only vanilla trees will change)
- Let's Do Blooming Nature - biomes are messed up, may look unpredictable
Not compatible (not working as intended):
- Litosphere (the world is not posible to create)
- Litostiched
- Terralith -Dreamwoods biomes would not spawn!
- WWEE ( William Wyther's Expanded Ecosphere) - Dreamwoods custom biomes would not spawn!
- ReTerraforged
Mod's "wiki" :
Clay Dirt
Clay vein in the grass block, can be found in wet biomes, yellow wildflowers often grow on top of it. Drops dirt and clay balls when broken. Use a shovel to break it faster. Can be tilled with a hoe to get a normal farmland, drops 1 clay ball this way.
Fairy Raindrop
Grows in Twilight Forest. Can fill water bottles. Can be also crafted into a dye.
Autumnal Leaf Pile, Ruby Maple Leaf Pile and fallen leaves
Use shovel with right-click to grab it. Compostable.
Pomegranate and Pear
Craft their saplings by combining oak sapling and a fruit. The fruits should be taken off the tre by right-click, otherwise their blocks would be completely broken (but with a very slow speed so you can understand your mistake soon and stop=))
Reindeer Moss
Can be used to heal, just follow the tooltips info.
Hanging vines
Vines like Hybiscus, Nigh Blossom, Eldertwine and others can be bonemeal-ed
