Description
Diggles is a mod that adds new critters, which are only obtained by Archeology.
They aren't just any other pet mob, since each Diggle will have their own genetics, and their own special abilities!
Where to Find
Just like Sniffers, Diggles are ancient creatures.
This means they are no longer roaming your world.
They can only be obtained in the new Ruins structures scattered across your world.
There are Common Ruins found in Forests,
Desert Ruins, Badlands Ruins, Jungle Ruins,
Icy Ruins found in Ice Spikes and Snowy Peaks,
Cave Ruins found in the Dripstone and Lush Caves,
and the Cherry Ruins found in the Cherry Groves.
These Ruins contain ancient secrets for the archeology lovers,
such as Pottery Shards and Items that tell the Ruin's story.
And... each Ruin will also have its own Diggle Egg variant that can be found among the rubble.
Just like dogs in real life, each variant of Diggle was bred for a specific purpose.
This means each pure-bred variant will have their own Special Ability.
The Ruins are Configurable in the Server Config.
Special Abilities
Fetch Items
Diggles with this ability will search for the item they are holding,
pick it up and bring it back to their owner.
This ability is from the Meadow variant.
Store Items
Diggles with this ability will pick up items in their cheeks,
and bring it back to their burrow or hut to store.
Diggle Huts can have their inventory accessed,
so stored items can be obtained without breaking the block.
This ability is from the Desert variant.
Dig Up Items
Diggles with this ability will dig up a random item from a diggable block.
Random items and diggable blocks can be defined in the config.
This ability is from the Badlands (Red Desert) variant
Harvest Blocks
Diggles with this ability will be able to farm and harvest crops near their burrow or hut.
They will turn any dirt into a nutritious Diggle Soil block,
plant the crop they are holding, grow the crops, then harvest them.
They can even plant other mod's crops!
This ability is from the Snowy variant
Dig Through Stone
Diggles with this ability will sniff out ores through stone.
Give them the drop of a specific ore, such as a Diamond or Raw Iron,
and the Diggle will start digging a tunnel if it smells the ore.
They also are more efficient miners, so they collect more materials
than a regular pickaxe would.
This ability is from the Cave variant
Pickpocket
Diggles with this ability will find any living entity that has the
item they are holding and steal it from them.
This applies to entities that drops the item on death,
or the entity has the item in their inventory.
The Diggle will sneak up, swipe the item,
then run back to their owner.
This ability is from the Jungle variant
Regenerate Health
Diggles with this ability will heal themselves if injured,
and heal their owners with a regeneration effect.
This ability is from the Cherry variant
Use Magic
Diggles with this ability will be able to enchant a held item randomly.
First, they must consume an item that will allow them to enchant.
These items can be defined in the config.
This ability is from the Fairy variant
Genetics and Breeding
In order to breed two Diggles, they must be given a food item to hold.
Food items for each variant can be defined in the config.
Once bred, one of the Diggles will pop out an egg.
If the two Diggles are different variants, they will have a "Mutt" baby.
The genetics of each Mutt are completely unique and randomized.
The fur color, eye colors, and egg colors of the baby are determined by mixing the parent's colors together.
The ear type and eyebrow type are also inherited randomly from both parents.
This means that no mutt will be the same.
Mutts are also able to inherit two or more abilities from both parents.
The abilities of an unhatched Diggle will be displayed in the tooltip of their egg.
Burrows and Huts
All adult Diggles will create a home for themselves by placing a Diggle Burrow block.
The Diggle will go inside their burrow during night to sleep,
then come back out during the day.
Diggles who have the Store Items ability will even store their food in their burrow when their cheeks are full.
However, this can clog up their burrow,
and the only way to get the items back it to break the Burrow Block.
This is where Diggle Huts become more useful.
Diggle Huts are a craftable home for your Diggle.
They are both decorative and functional,
Since you can access their inventory directly without breaking it.
Plus, Diggles prefer it, since they will occupy a Hut they can enter before burrowing.
It's a cute, stylish, and functional Home :D
Both Diggle Burrows and Huts can store 1 adult Diggle, and a maximum of 2 babies.
There also has to be no block above the Burrow or Hut so the Diggle can get out.
