This update is mostly a follow up to the Blood Moon miniboss update, but I still ended up adding a bunch of nice stuff!!
It is not a huge new drop, but the mod should feel cleaner, smoother, and just more alive now!
New Stuff!!
Bloodblight
Blood Moon minibosses got a new nasty effect called Bloodblight!
If a wild marked miniboss hits something outside of battle, it can now apply Bloodblight. It has its own particles, damage, and death message, so it feels like an actual effect now instead of some invisible background thing!
Fakemon Usage Stats
I added a new /fakemonusage system!
This lets server owners track which fakemon from my mod people are actually using. It can track:
- Captures
- Send outs
- Battle appearances
There are also top lists now, so you can see which mons are getting the most love!
New Advancements
Added some new little milestone advancements!
- Defeat a Blood Moon miniboss
- Earn Lootoad’s trust
- Let Selyn call down a Blue Moon
I also fixed the first Fakemon catch advancement so it works when you catch any of my fakemon, instead of acting like you had to catch the entire roster. That was not the vibe!!
Polish!!
Creative Tab
My mod creative tab has a proper sidebar now!
You can filter items by:
- Artifacts
- Gemstones
- Nature
It makes the tab feel way cleaner and less like everything was just tossed into one pile.
Item Tooltips
The items and blocks now have Shift to read descriptions!
Holding Shift reveals the text with a little typewriter effect, and I cleaned up a lot of the wording so it feels more Minecrafty and less like a big boring manual.
Loading Screens
Lootoad can show up on loading screens now!!
I also adjusted the placement so it feels more intentional and cute instead of just randomly slapped on the screen.
Fixes & Cleanup!!
Blood Moon Minibosses
Did more cleanup and polish for Blood Moon minibosses!
Titles, auras, caught state, and visual handling should all behave better now. I also fixed some aura rendering weirdness and crashes from the follow-up work.
Bloodsplitter Lag
Fixed a likely Bloodsplitter lag spike!
The player skin stuff now waits for cached skin data instead of trying to grab it right in the render path. Basically, it should be way less likely to randomly freeze your client when Bloodsplitter is doing its creepy face stuff.
Showdown / Battle Data
Cleaned up more of the Showdown data flow and added helper tooling for exporting/testing battle data locally!
Also cleaned up some docs around how the battle data system works, because future me deserves peace.
Config & Compatibility
Cleaned up config sanitizing so bad config values are handled more safely!
Also removed an extra Showdown startup repair hook that did not need to run anymore, and added some guards around Cobblemon data layout changes, so things are easier to catch if Cobblemon changes stuff again.
