Description
Chimeric Shinies
Chimeric Shinies is a Cobblemon addon that introduces a new type of mixed shiny Pokémon - Chimeric Shinies - multifacted creatures whose bodies contain a blend of shiny and non-shiny components.
Instead of every shiny Pokémon being a uniform recolour, some species that are made up of two or more individuals or components can appear as chimeras, where only certain individuals or body parts possess the shiny mutation.
This creates rare and visually unique Pokémon that feel more biologically plausible and exciting to discover.
✨ Concept
Many Pokémon are canonically composed of multiple organisms or body units:
- Magneton is three Magnemite fused together
- Dugtrio is three Diglett triplets forming a triad
- Exeggcute is a colony of six individual eggs
In vanilla Pokémon, these always share the same shiny state.
Chimeric Shinies asks a simple question:
What if each individual component of this unit could have its own shiny state?
The result is Pokémon like:
- A Magneton with only one shiny orb
- A Slowbro with a non-shiny Shellder tail
- A Metang made up of a shiny and non-shiny Beldum pair
Each combination produces a unique variant reflected in a dedicated chimera form for you to collect!
🎲 How It Works
When a shiny Pokémon spawns, there is a chance (configurable) that the mod may assign chimeric traits that determine which body components are shiny or non-shiny
For supported species, the mod randomly rolls these configurations for the respective parts available
Evolution is fully supported - the shiny configuration persists and is visually resolved in later forms, and not re-rolled at a later point
Non-shiny Pokémon will never become chimeric, aspects are determined upon generation. If you want to find these new oddities, you need to hunt shiny Pokémon!
Pokémon such as Diglett, Koffing, and Magnemite can possess the chimeric aspects, but will not exhibit any visual differences beyond usual shininess until evolving (you can see the form it will evolve into in the evolution preview!)
🧬 Features
- Adds chimeric shiny variants for multi-component Pokémon
- Configurable spawn probability
- Plays well with any mechanics that increase shiny odds
- Supports partial shiny configurations
- Evolutions preserve chimeric structure
- Helpful creative commands
- Multiplayer and server compatible
- Does not impact normal Pokémon spawning
- Full Pokédex support for viewing obtained forms
V 1.1.0
- Shiny Shell Helmet now drops from evolving shiny Shellmet. Use either Shell Helmet item to craft your Escavalier Chimera how you wish, or trade a shiny for a non-shiny!
- Supported stage 0 Pokémon now appear as non-shiny where appropriate. You will still be alerted to their presence in the wild, and will see a special icon in the summary!
V 2.0.0
- Support for Cobblemon Special Fossils
- Support for Cobblemon Poke Fusions
Both these features add mechanics to help craft the specific chimera you wish! Wiki to come soon!
V 2.1.0
- Support for Cobblemon Spaceworldmons
⚙️ Configuration
A config file is generated on first launch:
config/chimeric_shinies.json
Options include:
- Chance of any shiny Pokémon being chimeric
- 0 turns off the mod, whilst 100 makes every shiny of a supported species chimeric
- note that regular shinies will not spawn if this is set to 100, I suggest therefore using a value of 99 or under
- Weighting for different chimera configurations
- Two part chimeras only use A and B aspects, three part chimeras use A,B,C,AB,AC, and BC aspects, four part chimeras use A,B,C,D,AB,AC,AD,BC,BD,CD,ABC,ABD, and BCD aspects
- I suggest keeping the single and combined aspects grouped at similar weights, but you are free to customise how you wish
- Option to disable support for Twinned Pokémon species (species with multiple heads but share the same body from lowest evolution stage).

Cobblemon Poke Fusions
General behaviour
Recipes read input shininess to output full shiny, non-shiny, or the matching chimera aspect. Positionings are read left to right, a to c, and respect level requirements for evolution.
Supported species
The following Pokémon can be combined to create chimera versions
Standard chimera evolutions
- Slowpoke + Shellder -> Slowbro
- Shellder + Slowpoke -> Slowking
- Galarian Slowpoke + Shellder -> Galarian Slowbro
- Shellder + Galarian Slowpoke -> Galarian Slowking
- Honedge + Honedge -> Doublade
- Dreepy + Dreepy -> Drakloak
- Drakloak + Dreepy -> Dragapult
- Diglett + Diglett + Diglett -> Dugtrio
- Alolan Diglett + Alolan Diglett + Alolan Diglett -> Alolan Dugtrio
- Magnemite + Magnemite + Magnemite -> Magneton

Cobblemon Special Fossils
General Behaviour
Supports any shiny/non shiny combination of Fossilized Drake/Dino with Fossilized Bird/Fish in the following ways

Supported species
The following Pokémon can be combined to create chimera versions
- Dracozolt
- Arctozolt
- Dracovish
- Arctovish
Supports full shiny, non-shiny, and all chimera combinations based on which fossils are input
A version of v0.3.0 or above is required for this support
When installed, spawning of chimeric galar fossils is handled entirely by Special Fossils, you will not be able to randomly receive a chimeric shiny via rolling into a shiny, you will require the exact combination of fossils to construct the version you desire.
Spaceworldmons Cobblemon
General Behaviour
Supports appropriate chimeras from the spaceworldmons mod
Supported species include
- Magnetite
- Para
- Calfaraf
- Twinz
- Hinaazu
- Guardia
- Beta Girafarig
🔧 Commands (Debug)
For testing and development, the mod includes:
/chimera
This allows manual assignment of chimera states to Pokémon.
/chimera bits
This allows you to set the chimeric configuration using 1/0 on/off flags (e.g 110 = A true, B true, c false)
/chimera set
This allows you to set a specific chimera flag as true or false
/chimera get
Prints the Pokémon's chimeric values
/chimera clear
Sets all flags to false
You can also define the party slot at the end of the command
/chimera spawn
Commands to spawn a chimeric variant or all variants of a given species
📦 Requirements
Cobblemon (fabric)
🧩 Compatibility
Designed to work alongside normal Cobblemon gameplay.
The mod only affects supported species, and only when they are shiny, so it will not interfere with standard mechanics.
