Before this, you might have found that:

  • Surviving as a latex is (mostly) relaxing and unbalanced.
  • They are too peaceful and have nothing to strike you and others down.
  • You can loot a lot of materials from the facilities and labs, and it's easier than mining in a cave for 30 minutes.

Or you just want to make your experience easier in another way:

  • Becomes a latex after joining the world.
  • Gains more transfur resistance by default.
  • Makes those annoying iron golems stop targeting you.

Worry not, Changed: Doomsday will solve the issues above.

title

This mod allows you to make your Changed experiences more challenging with new gamerules, configurations, and data packs.
Also works with Changed Addon Plus mod.

It's fully server-side. Your friends may not need to install this mod.
However, you can't join a server that hasn't installed this mod, and administrators without it cannot see the gamerules either. It's still recommended to have both sides install it instead.

To prevent unwanted results, the mod itself will not provide any default difficulty. You need to adjust them(gamerules, configurations, and datapacks) manually in-game or in the Create World menu.
Leaving this unchanged will make this mod have only a very little effect on your experience.

(Post-1.3) The configurations have been added.
You may check Contents - Configurations for further adjustments.

(Ver 1.35 Latest) 3 configurations are enabled by default.

Contents - Gamerules

Currently provided gamerules are as follows:

1.0

Doomsday
Default: 0
Ingame display name: changedDoomsday

If enabled, latexes will remain hostile to all players, regardless of whether they're transfurred. Set to 1 to enable, and 2 to include organics. (Tamed latexes and latexes of the same faction as you won't attack you.) (You'll be their first target!)

Your Destined Archenemy

Note:

  • Currently, only 2 latex factions exist in the Changed MC mod: Pure White Latex and Dark Latex. Becoming a Shark Latex doesn't mean other Sharks will stop attacking you.

Nowhere To Run
Default: False
Ingame display name: changedNowhereToRun

If enabled, they (hostile latexes) can see you through the walls and try to raid you. (If you're in their detection range.) (They only see players!)

Note:

  • To those who enabled it (with Doomsday): The true Doomsday at an early stage of your development should be expected, since in the main dimension, they will probably raid you right after they spawn.
(Avoid building your home near rivers and seas?)

Contagion (Configurable)

Default: 0
Ingame display name: changedContagion

If set to 1, latexes can transfur any transfurable entities by only one hit. (Affects only players if set to 2. Setting it to 3 will not affect players.)

Note:

  • Overwrites 1 attribute changed:transfur_tolerance to 3. Equipping armors with Latex Protection may help you temporarily resist one infectious punch.
  • 2025/7/14 - I just realized that there was a datapack called instant_transfur in Changed MC Mod. The datapack will overwrite all entities' attributes, changed:transfur_tolerance, to 1 instead. Consider using this datapack for a harder experience.
2025/8/7 - You can now use config instead use this data packs above

Threats From Afar
Default: 100(%)
Ingame display name: changedThreatsFromAfar

(Unit: %. Values shouldn't be lower than 100, and this gamerule is partially useless if you don't enable NowhereToRun.) This value will multiply latex NPCs' target loss distance and their eyesight (with NowhereToRun, only used to see players). Set to 200 for longer chases or further troubles.

Note:

  • I failed to code to multiply their eyesight, so this gamerule is abandoned, sorry.
  • This percentage affects and multiplies all Changed entities' attributes, follow_range.

1.2

Armament Race (Configurable)

Default: 0(%)
Ingame display name: changedArmamentRace

(Unit: %. Recommended value for starters: -5) Adjusts the probability of the latexes spawned with effects, armor, and swords/tools. Setting it to a negative number will disable enchantments. Mini-bosses can appear on Normal+ difficulty.

Armament Race

Armed Latexes  |  Minibosses | Armed Latexes (Centaur & Legless)
(Miniboss Glowing only lasts for 5 seconds)

Enchantments (Post-1.27)

What will happen if the hunters learned their prey's technology tree?

Note:

  • Changed Addon Plus combat stuff will be included if you installed it. Does not include the stuff that can only be accessed by creative mode.
  • Feral latexes, tamed latexes, and boss latexes are not included.
  • All armed latexes' transfur damage increases by 50%.
  • 5 Classes for non-minibosses: Warrior, Rusher, Turtle Master, Glass Cannon, Self-healer. Dropping an extra 1.5x EXP when killed.
  • When the current difficulty is not set to Easy and an armed latex is spawned, there is a 2.5% chance for them to become a mini-boss (They will gain a large number of potion effects. Drop an extra 3.5x/5x EXP, 75% chance to drop armor and weapons when killed).
  • Diamond equipment only appears on Hard difficulty.

Dying Light (Configurable)

Default: 0
Ingame display name: changedDyingLight

(Unit: Second. Recommended value for starters: -1800) After transfurred, if you remain in control but still have not untransfurred within a set time, you will still die. Set to 30 or above to enable. Setting it to a negative number will disable effects.

The Consequence

Note:

  • (When positive numbers) You gain the effects below after the timer:
    • Stage 1. Reaches 25%: (Only happens once. Duration: 8s) Nausea
    • Stage 2. Reaches 50%: Slowness I, (Randomly happens) Hunger I
    • Stage 3. Reaches 75%: Mining Fatigue I, (Randomly happens) Poison I
    • Stage 4. Reaches 90%: Slowness II, Weakness I, Blindness
  • There's no way to slow/boost its progress for now. Switching to Creative Mode will halt its progress. Resets the timer only when being transfurred.
  • Effects will be stacked into later stages, and they cannot be cured by drinking milk.
  • It's probably best to use it with ANY mods that contain anti-transfur elements. Such as Changed Addon Plus
  • Be cautious to using it with Permanent Transfur(changed:KeepForm) enabled.

The Abandonment of Totems
Default: False
Ingame display name: changedaddonAbandonment

If enabled, all Transfur Totems will no longer work for survival/adventure mode players.

  • This gamerule requires Changed Addon Plus mod to work.

1.3

Test Body (Configurable)

 Default: False
Ingame display name: changedTestBody

You will be transfurred after spawning or respawning, forced to survive as a latex at the beginning.

1.35
(Latest Release)

Hero of the Village (Configurable)

 Default: False
Ingame display name: changedaddonVillageHero

(Active only when you're a latex) Killing illagers, latexes, and zombies will recover your reputation, while damaging villagers and iron golems directly will decrease it.

High Reputation: Grants discounts while trading with villagers.
Medium Reputation: The villagers see you as a human and stay neutral.
Low Reputation: Iron golems attack you as usual, villagers fear you, and prices will rise.

Hero of the Village
They do remember you

  • This gamerule requires Changed Addon Plus mod to work.

Contents - Data Packs

The first 4 data packs were created in 1.3 version.
Considering some possible incoming (or not) updates that may alter the loot tables, I only created 4.
All of 4, for now, are only created for decreasing or disabling laboratory loots.

For those who don't know how to use them:

Situation I - At the creation of a world

In Create World Menu, click the Data Packs button.

And then, you should see these 4 data packs (and 2 from Changed MC Mod).

Now you can just move them to Selected like how you moving resource packs.

Situation II -  In an existing world

You need to have the permission (or enable cheats in singleplayer) before proceeding the next steps.
Simply, input /datapack enable, and press Tab, and press ↑/↓ key to select the data pack you need.
When selected, press Tab again and then Enter, that's it.

Disabling them? you can input /datapack disable instead and repeat these steps.

Please search on Google if you still don't understand.

Contents - Configurations

Added in 1.3.
Unlike gamerules, they now have default values.
You can adjust these values for more precise difficulty settings.

(Ver 1.35 Latest) 3 configurations are enabled by default. You may check: [MISCELLANEOUS] and [TWEAKS].

For those who don't know how to edit them:

You can access them in 2 ways:

Way I - Minecraft Config Folder

Folder Path: .minecraft/config/changeddoomsday-common.toml
or .minecraft/versions/<game name or version>/config/changeddoomsday-common.toml

Open the toml file with Note or else, edit it and make sure its format is correct.

Way II - Main Menu

Back to the main menu, and you should see the Mobs button.
Click it and then search Changed: Doomsday.
Click the Config button, and the remaining parts are for you to explore.

Installing the Configured mod can help you a lot.
But some servers will probably block you because this mod is server-sided.

Please search on Google if you still don't understand.

Dependencies

For now, it only requires Changed mod to work.

Changed Addon Plus mod and Configured mod is optional.

  • I was wondering why there was no configuration or mod to achieve these functions. Just that, until 2025.
  • It was previously made with MCreator, but now the main codes are made by me.
  • You may provide your issues or advice by posting a comment. (Although I don't have much spare time on this project in the future, I may take a look at the comments occasionally.)
  • Some kind of relaxing or practical gamerules are considered, but they won't appear in a short time, since I still need more practice with JavaScript for them.

  • As usual, enjoy the doomsday, nightmare, or apocalypse we keep looking for.

There are 1 known but not-so-annoying issues (I don't know if it's fixed already...):

When they hold TSC staff in their left hand

Looks even cooler right?
Yea and also, sometimes they hold their weapons in their left hand, even I coded to let them hold the weapons in their right hand.

Maybe ignore this one since I'm sure their damage still meets my expectations

Recommended mods that can enhance AI latexes further:

Improved Mobs
Makes monsters behave smarter and crueler (You probably need to disable difficulty increase first)

Champions
Adds elite mobs of different rarities, with enhanced stats, extra abilities, and extra loot
