Did you ever think, that Minecraft hasn't enough realism? Normally human can't break trees without any tools by only hand. Also, it's quite stupid to make wooden tools such as pickaxes or axes, because wood is softer then stone.
What I've done:
1) Wood can't be harvested by hand.
2) Gold ingots and diamonds can't be used to make equipment anymore.
3) Player can use stone hatchet made from cobblestone.
4) Player can find boulders and harvest cobblestone or logs with it. Very slow tool, which has 5 durability (6 uses).
5) Player can find copper, tin, silver and titanium ore.
6) Mixing copper and tin you can get bronze. Bronze and titanium ingots are using in making equipment.
7) You can get upgraded steel made from 6 steel ingots and one coil and melting it in furnace. (6 steel ingots + 1 coil = upgraded steel ingot).
8) Trees leaves drops sticks with 30% chance and apples with 3% chance.
9) Horse armor have another name, texture and crafting recipe.
10) Added grass armor.
11) Added titanium armor with its special effects, improoving HurtResistance time in 2.5 times.
12) Added effect Barefoot. You move slower when have no shoes equipped.
13) Added effect Drowsiness. If you don't sleep more then 3 days you walk strange.
14) Added effect Undercooling. If you don't have a full set of wear in snow biom you move 25% slower and could get ill.
15) Added effect Chilblain. If you try to swim in snow biom you move slower and can't change quick slot.
16) Added effect Illness. If you ill you will loose HP every 3 seconds. 100% loose HP if you have 100% of health. 90% if you have 90% HP, etc. You can die.

Planks could be harvested by hand. Wooden logs still couldn't.
Stones on ground are renamed to Boulders. Boulders have 3D models and can be rotated.
Added new item Basis for upgraded steel ingot made from 6 steel ingots and one coil.
Stainless steel ingot is renamed to Upgraded steel ingot. It is now made from Basis for upgraded steel ingot.
Grass armor don't have any effects anymore.
Titanium armor have new effect, named Titanium Protection. Also Titanium armor have a little bit less protection.
Upgraded steel items now have diamonds vanilla ids so now you can use them in other mods receipts. BACKUP PLEASE!
Silver ore has a new texture.

You can get better iron mixing it 2 times with itself and melting it in furnace. (8 steel ingots = stainless steel ingot).
