BroadcastCraft 0.3.0 (1.20.1 Forge)
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
BroadcastCraft 0.3.0
This one is built from your comments. It also folds in everything that was prepared for 0.2.1, which was never published.
Also on 1.21.1
This release is available for Minecraft 1.20.1 on Forge and Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge, with the same features on both.
Signal standards
Stations no longer all speak the same language. Each one transmits in Digital, PAL, NTSC or SECAM, and every television is built to decode one of them. The rules are the real ones:
- Matching standards give a full picture.
- PAL against SECAM gives a black-and-white picture. Both are 625 lines at 50 Hz, so the set locks onto the image and simply cannot decode the other's colour.
- Anything against NTSC gives static. NTSC is 525 lines at 60 Hz and shares no timing with the European standards.
- A digital signal on an analog set, or the reverse, gives static.
Craft a Signal Converter and stand it against a television - any of the six sides - and that set accepts everything, in colour. That is the box to build when one studio has to reach viewers with different equipment.
Set a station's standard in the Vision Mixer's station screen, and a television's tuner in the television's own screen. The television screen tells you in plain words why a picture is missing or grey.
Nothing changes in your existing world. Stations and televisions both default to Digital, and old saves read back as Digital, so every setup you have already built keeps working exactly as it did.
Teletext
Press T while watching a television full-screen. Four pages, in the proper style and with the numbers you remember: 100 index, 101 programme, 102 transmission data, and 888 subtitles. Arrow keys turn the page.
Everything from the unpublished 0.2.1
- In-game Broadcast Handbook - now twelve chapters, including a seven-step build-along and a troubleshooting page.
- Thirteen advancements that walk you along the signal chain.
- Ten studio props: Fresnel light, ceiling softbox, PAR can, softbox on a stand, cyclorama floor light, lighting truss, boom and desk microphones, studio clock and green screen.
- Broadcast Server block.
- Mixer keybinds - ALT+1-4 to preview, ALT+C to cut, ALT+B for black, all usable without the mixer screen open.
- Optional Simple Voice Chat support - speak in front of a camera on Program and you are heard from every television tuned to that station.
- New models for the camera, vision mixer and monitors, by a community artist, and all item icons redrawn as one set.
- Fixed: monitors and mixers let you see through the world; the Server dropped nothing when broken; three recipes were broken by a typo; the remote used vanilla's texture.
Known limitation: shaderpacks
With Iris/Oculus and a shaderpack enabled, camera feeds are paused and monitors show a standby screen. Everything returns the moment you turn shaders off. Feeds work by rendering the world a second time into an off-screen texture, which is exactly the stage a shader pipeline replaces; a cheaper workaround was built, tested and crashed, so it was removed. The mod names your shader mod in the log at startup.
