Description
This mod adds fantastical creatures to Minecraft. I tried to make them fun and fill purposes. Most of the features of this mod can be configured with Datapacks or with the config.
Packwing
Packwings are small bat-like creatures that can be found in planted areas. They come in different variants, depending on their spawn location. They can be tamed with glowing items and breed with fruit. Once tamed you can give them an item to hold with their tail. If they hold an item named after a player that is online, they fly and teleport to that player and deliver the item. Shulkerboxes or Bundles are very useful for this.
Salamander
Salamanders are peaceful lizards that live in mountainous areas. They produce a lot of internal heat that they love to use to smelt items lying around them on the ground. They also sometimes drop scales. For that they have to find a rough block and scrub themselves with it. Scales can be smelted into netherrack or they can be used for a cheaper netherite recipe. Salamanders can be bred with hot items like fire charges.
End Squid
End Squids can be found flying around the outer end islands. They care for hungry players by giving them food. But be careful, they want to escape the end. If you are close to bedrock, they'll sit on your shoulder to escape the end with you. Once in the overworld they become mischievous, finding chests and sorting them to their weird liking.
Amethyst Crab
Sometimes when a Budding Amethyst grows a new crystal, that crystal comes to life as an Amethyst Crab. They have an amethyst crystal on their back that grows while they are on geode blocks and can be sheared. On rare occasion shearing them results in Embedded Crystals, a curio item that, when worn, lets you successfully harvest Budding Amethyst blocks. When an amethyst crab is close to a Sculk Catalyst when it triggers, it may transform into an Echo Crab.
Echo Crab
Echo Crabs can only be found where Amethyst Crabs transformed. Instead of an Amethyst Crystal they grow an Echo shard on their back. But be careful, they are more resentful than their purple cousins. When sheared or hurt, they run to the nearest sculk sensor and try to summon wardens. Their crystal only regrows when they collect experience orbs.
Mycelium Toad
Mycelium Toads are big mobs that are in a symbiotic relationship with mushrooms. If you feed them enough meat, they fall asleep and start growing a new mushroom. If they successfully finish their sleep, the mushroom is grown below them. But be careful, attacking them makes them release a spore cloud that is poisonous and causes hallucinations.
Prayfinder
Prayfinders are malicious mobs that spawn together with zombies after 10 in-game days. They search for players, flying over them and giving them the pheromones effect. This effect makes mobs around the affected aggressive towards them. This includes usually passive mobs like wolves. But you can stop their behaviour by wearing items they like. Mob heads or beetle horns are good options for that. While wearing such items you can tame a prayfinder with rotten flesh or similar items. Once tamed, they fly over mobs you are fighting and give them the pheromones effect. But be careful, they are very fragile. If you kill them, they drop prayfinder feathers that can be made into a potion of pheromones.
Mimicart
Did you ever find a minecart in an abandoned mineshaft that made slurping noises? Well now you can. Mimicarts look like normal minecarts until attacked or sat in. Then they show their true, tongued and teethed form and try to bite anything around or in them. You can kill them for iron or living wheels. Living wheels can be made into a personal minecart curio. It lets you summon a personal minecart just by clicking on a rail block.
Living Lightning
During thunderstorms, this mob may spawn. It flies around looking for creepers to charge and pigs to transform. But if they come across another transformable mob, they will also transform those. You can extract lightning from them with bottles but doing that or attacking them angers them and makes them shoot lightning arcs at you. They die once there is no longer a thunderstorm.
Nether Leach
Nether Leaches spawn in crimson forests. They don't like overworld blocks. When they see one, they suck on them until they are transformed into nether variants. They also do not like players, crawling over and entering your inventory as an item. While in this form they deal periodic damage to you and give you fire resistance. They die in the overworld. If you let them transform infested stone, they make infested netherrack, a block that when broken releases a random small critter. You can also make arrows out of it if you harvest it with silk touch, creating arrows that spawn small aggressive critters on impact. Mobs also do not like walking onto infested netherrack.
Rootling
When you leave plants on the ground to decay, they may turn into a rootling. Rootlings plant the block they were spawned from a few times and then vanish. If you help them plant their block they become happy and may give you a spine sapling as a reward. That is an item that lets you walk through leaves.
End Wyvern
End Wyverns build their home nests in the outer end islands out of chorus. They are very homebound, never leaving their nest further than 50 blocks. But they are very helpful catching falling players in their home, giving them creative flight in the area of their nest. Their eggs can be mined with silk touch and hatched on Chorus Nest to make an End Wyvern with a new home nest.
Deepshoveler
These mole-like creatures with shovels for hands hate light. When they see light sources they spit void at them to temporarily turn them into void blocks. They also spit at players giving them void vision. But their main goal is to upgrade their shovels. They will search for the next better ore in their chain to dig it up and upgrade themselves, leaving behind void ore. Void ore sometimes absorbs other nearby ores (swapping places) and can be mined without a pickaxe. It can be used as a stone tool material or to make a void ore magnet, a new redstone block that mines ores around it.
Miners Snack
These unique fish spawn in underground lakes. They all have a different taste relating to 2 potion effects you gain by eating them. They also vary in hunger and saturation points. You can pick them up with just your hand and eat them. They give back fish bone skewers that work like sticks or can be made into bone meal. You can also cook them to improve hunger and saturation but this removes the potion effects.
Dream Pixie
Dream Pixies are not found naturally, they are only attracted to food left out on plates while all mobs around them sleep.
To make these plates you have to collect the bluebell flower. They can be found throughout forests and plains and grow in weird circle formations. You can grow them yourself by placing one and waiting for a circle to form. But be aware, some positions are not applicable for their circling and they need sunlight.
After making a plate leave food on it and go to sleep. If every mob around the plate is sleeping a pixie may appear and eat the food, leaving behind loot items and pixie dust in its stead.
Pixie dust is a versatile item that lets you make rainbow wool, carpet, concrete and torches. You can also make party poppers and glitter bombs. And you can make a magical girl wand that lets you heal negative potion effects from mobs by hitting them and shoot regeneration hearts by right clicking. The wand also gives you a nice uniform and is colorable.
Burry
Burrys are the earth variant to Blazes and Breezes. Living sandstorms that can be found in the desert. They shoot sand projectiles and are hurt by water or sunlight. They drop Burry rods and Burry dust. Burry dust can be used on blocks to make them fall like sand. Rarely Burrys also drop Burry gems that can be used to make a dormant scarab. When a dormant scarab is used on a Burry it transforms into a Grave.
Grave
The Grave is the only boss of this mod, a giant sandstorm golem. It can make spikes erupt from the ground and throw boulders of sandstone. It also summons Burrys. It drops the Scarab and in its boulders you can find Crystal Sandstone that contains Grave Gems. With the Grave Gems and the Scarab you can make the Pickerang, a pickaxe that can be thrown.
