Birdhaus
Birdhaus is a mod that brings the joy of birdhouses to Minecraft!
The mod adds a craftable “birdhouse” block that accepts any kind of seed in its internal inventory.
Placing seeds in the birdhouse’s inventory activates the block, and offers the following functionalities:
- An active birdhouse attracts parrots to if they enter its radius of effect while active
- An active birdhouse will slowly spawn parrots around the block if seeds are in its inventory
- Different seed types placed in the internal inventory spawn different parrot colors
- If an active birdhouse is destroyed or runs out of seeds for nearby parrots, birds in the vicinity will slowly lose interest
This mod was a small, fun project intended to add ambiance and a decorative block in the world of Minecraft. Future plans include:
- Having nearby parrots enter party mode if certain special items are placed inside of the birdhouse’s inventory
- Allowing the birdhouse to reflect the type of wood used in its crafting recipe in its appearance
- Adding config options to allow for any other bird to be attracted to the birdhouse, not just parrots
