About Better Flint & Steels (BFS)
This is a simple mod that adds more types of flint and steel to the world.
BFS is a mod that implements new types of flint and steel into the game, allowing for better longevity of the tool. The reason the mod was created was since the release of EnderIO 1.12, the player required to obtain a crafting material through igniting bedrock, something I thought was tedious to perform with a regular flint and steel - thus the creation of this mod. Unfortunately due to other mods, like Thermal Expansion, not being updated to 1.14, BFS lost a lot of items due to ingots not existing to craft with. Having patiently been waiting for this mods for sometime to be released to 1.14, nothing had seemed to come up yet and BFS underwent a redevelopment to use more unique crafting recipes to obtain all flint and steel types, as possible in the 1.12 version of the mod.
As of the latest release, not all items from 1.12 are in 1.14; however, majority of the base ingots and a few alloys have been implemented into v1.2.0, along with gaining the ability to obtain an unbreakable tier of flint & steel. Ingots added by other mods that are part of the Forge gobal ore dictionary, which has been released in part with the new Tags system, can be used when crafting flint and steels to allow for compatiblity of recipes depending on what mods are installed.
As of v1.2.0, the items that are craftable to the player are: Flint and Aluminium; Flint and Aluminium Brass; Flint and Bronze; Flint and Copper; Flint and Lead; Flint and Nickel; Flint and Silver; Flint and Tin; Flint and Zinc; and Flint O' Dire. 5 of these combined with obsidian will form the Flint of the East, and the other 5 the Flint of the West. Whilst these are functional flint and steels with the combined durability of the 5 flint and steels used when crafting, and an additional 250, they can be crafted together to form the Flint of the North Star, an unbreakable flint and steel type with an AoE effect of 11x11 blocks in front of the player depending on the direction they are looking.
To Note
Better Flint & Steels uses the global Forge ore dictionary for ingots required to craft the relavent flint and steels; however, it cannot be gaurenteed that other mods will add the relavent ingots to the global Forge ore dictionary meaning that this mod is depenedent on the More Ores mod to run. Please include this mod in your mods folder.
