Downed state
Players get downed instead of dying which allows for some neat interactions this mod adds to it. If you're healthy and other healthy player finds you in time, they'll be able to revive you. If no one comes for a long time, you'll then die.
Awakening structure and block
Generating in the wild, you might find a abondoned, church lookin structure. If you decide to venture down into its basement and complete the puzzles hidden within you'll find the awakening block. By interacting with the awakening block in any-way you'll begin the infection and permanently get rid of all awakening blocks in that world.
Blood moons
Upon triggering the awakening block blood moons will now get chance to take place. Just like in many other games, during a blood moon the sky turns deep red and all enemy mobs become stronger. For each night that a blood moon does not happen, the higher chance for it is to happen the next night. To make your life just a little bit more miserable - as a helthy player you'll get weaker, depending on the moon phase (the fuller the moon, the stronger the enemies and weaker you). Blood moons are also the place for the new entity to spawn, the..
Mosquito!
These new beasts spawn during the blood moon and if you get bitten, there's a small chance you'll get infected. But watch out, as it's no regular mosquito, this one's got quite a punch to it! It took me some real effort for its model, as it was my first time ever using blockbench and I feel like it turned out pretty well.
Energy
In order to bring out some balance between the healthy and infected players (that are already debuffed quite a bit), healthy players now get an energy bar, which can be filled by sleeping. Whenever you now go to bed and take a nap, you'll reacharge your energy. In addition to this you can also nap at day, but doing so only regenerates your energy at half the regular speed. And if you decide not to sleep - well you better not do that, as sleep is a must!
Incubation
After you get infected you'll start showing some symptoms, such as getting debuffs at random, moles growing out of you and more! The closer you are to the end of the incubation time, the worse symptoms you'll suffer from. But once it's done..
The Infection
Once you're past the incubation period you'll become fully infected which will affect your gameplay a LOT. Here are the main changed aspects:
- You burn in the sun, just like zombies do.
- Crafting in inventory is no longer possible - your brain got clouded by the infection and you can no longer control your hands precise enough to use it.
- Inventory changes - you can no longer wear boots, nor helmets. On top of that you also lose access to half of you inventory slots.
- Enemy mobs don't attack you!
- Nights and especially Blood moons give you positive potion effects. The stronger the blood moon, the better.
- No sleeping needed! - the energy bar doesn't affect you, instead you get the bite bar, which once is full and you've downed a player, you can bite them with a chance to spread the infection.
Different skill branches
THIS IS WORK IN PROGRESS AND HAS NOT BEEN FULLY IMPLEMENTED! After the conditions for your side have been met, you'll be able to choose (or be given) a skill branch that you want to go on. The condition if you're on the infected side is quite simple: on the first blood moon that rises since your full infection, you'll unlock them. For the healthy team, the branches are unlocked once three players have been (in total) infected and you've consumed the magic tome, which spawns in the awakening shrines. You will unlock new and unique rewards along your way by completing quests that follow this mod. But that WILL be, as of now these are present:
- The hive mind stick - any mob hit by this stick will become target of any mobs in range (with the exception of few)
- The strong punch - hold down the attack button on a mob to strike for triple the damage Both of these can be unlocked with /apolinumability unlock ability
