What's new
1.4.0 — The Stilled World
Ice gets a new ultimate and loses an old one, the Thunder Dragon now goes after the creature you are looking at, and the one-ultimate-per-book limit can be switched off with a gamerule. Still eighteen spells, still two per school.
New: The Stilled World (Ice)
Time stops. A front runs out from you forty blocks in under a second, and everything it passes stops where it is: creatures mid-stride and mid-leap, arrows and thrown things in the air, falling blocks, lit TNT, the particles, the clouds, the sun. The world goes the colour of ice and the sound of it goes out. For eight seconds only you and your allies move.
- A crystal flower grows round everything that was caught — ice that bends the world behind it and splits the light at its edges.
- Blows are held. Anything you hit in stopped time does not feel it yet: the damage is written down, and its crystal cracks a little further with every hit. When time comes back it all lands at once, up to ×2.5 for many blows.
- Then every crystal shatters: 2.5× spell power to each enemy, on top of whatever was held. Arrows and thrown things carry on from where they stopped.
- Bosses (
#c:bosses/#forge:bosses) are not stopped; they are slowed to a crawl and still take the shattering. - GeckoLib creatures stop too, not just vanilla ones.
- Mana 620 (+120/level), cooldown 200 s, spell power 20 (+6/level), Legendary, ice school.
Removed: The Glacier
The Glacier is gone. Ice is now Ice Age and The Stilled World. A spell book or scroll that held The Glacier will no longer have it, and its config section (glaciation), its two advancements and its damage type are gone with it. Nothing else is affected, and existing worlds load as they are.
Changed: Thunder Dragon hunts what you look at
- Look at a creature and cast. The storm gathers over it, every one of the twelve strikes follows it wherever it runs, and the dive ends on it. Whatever stands near it is still caught in each strike.
- If it dies before the end, the rest of the storm goes on to whatever is nearest.
- With nothing under the crosshair the spell does not start — and takes no mana or cooldown, like Grand Sigil.
- Each strike 0.3× → 0.25× spell power, since all twelve now land on one target.
Gamerule: one ultimate per book
A spell book takes one Apex Arcana ultimate by default, so you choose the one you bring. That limit can now be switched off without touching any files:
- In game, per world:
/gamerule grandsigilOnePerBook false(andtrueto put it back). It is saved with the world, so a server can set it once. - In the config, for everything:
general.onePerBookin config/grandsigil-common.toml. - The limit applies only while both are on — turning off either one lifts it.
- Iron's own spells were never limited and still are not. Spells from Apex Arcana: Tides count as Apex ultimates and follow the same rule.
Shader packs
The Stilled World has been checked with Oculus (Forge) and Iris (NeoForge) as well as without a pack. Under a pack the crystals are drawn as solid ice and the cold comes in as a tint over the view, since a pack does not let the world itself be recoloured.
Also in this release
- Two new advancements (The Stilled World, Time's Up), one new damage type with its own death message; English and Korean.
- Apex Arcana: Tides (the separate T.O Magic 'n Extras addon) works with this version.
Updating
Drop the new jar in and delete the old one. No registry names changed apart from the removed spell, and nothing needs a new world.
