Description
🩹 Amumu Curse
Amumu Curse is a quiet, sorrow-driven affliction that seeps into the world around you.
It doesn’t shout, it doesn’t punish — it lingers.
As the curse grows, the world subtly decays in your presence, reacting to the sadness you carry.
💔 Sorrow & the Curse
Once cursed, sorrow slowly builds over time.
Sorrow isn’t a damage number or a status effect you can ignore — it changes how the world feels around you. The higher it rises, the more noticeable its presence becomes.
There are no warnings.
No countdowns.
You simply begin to notice that things aren’t right anymore.
🌒 Environmental Decay
As sorrow deepens, the environment responds:
- 🔥 Torches, lanterns, and fires may flicker or dim
- 🌫️ The world around you feels unstable and uneasy
- 🕯️ Light itself seems to struggle in your presence
These effects are subtle and atmospheric, meant to be noticed over time rather than all at once.
🧍 Villagers & Living Creatures
The curse affects those around you differently.
👥 Villagers
Villagers do not take damage from the curse.
Instead, they react to it.
- They step back slightly when near a cursed player
- Their behavior reflects discomfort rather than fear
- They contribute to the emotional weight of the curse without being harmed
🐄 Passive Mobs
Other passive creatures are not as resilient.
- Passive mobs take damage over time when near a highly sorrowful player
- The land around you feels like it is slowly decaying
The curse doesn’t lash out violently — it withers.
🩸 Bandages
🩹 Tattered Bandages
Bandages do not cure the curse on their own.
They:
- Temporarily suppress sorrow
- Slow its growth
- Offer brief relief
They are meant to help you endure — not escape.

✨ Golden Bandages
Golden Bandages are different.
They allow the curse to be cleansed alone, using the same ritual structure — but without the need for another player.
The ritual is still required.
The sorrow still must be faced.
You are simply no longer dependent on someone else being there.

🕯️ The Cleansing Ritual
The curse cannot be removed casually.
To cleanse it, a ritual must be performed under very specific conditions:
- 🖤 Crying Obsidian beneath the cursed player
- 🪵 A wooden altar, three blocks long (any wood type)
- 🕯️ Candles placed at both ends of the altar
- 🌑 The ritual must be performed around midnight
Normally, another player must be present.
With Golden Bandages, you may perform the ritual alone.
If the ritual is incomplete or mistimed, the curse will stay.

🖤 Design Intent
Amumu’s Curse is meant to be:
- Subtle rather than loud
- Emotional rather than mechanical
- Observed rather than explained
It’s a mod about carrying sorrow, not fighting it.
🌙 Final Notes
This mod works best in:
- Survival worlds
- Immersive or roleplay-focused modpacks
- Slower, atmospheric gameplay
If you’re looking for a curse that changes the mood of your world instead of your stats —
Amumu’s Curse is meant to be felt.
