What's new
AVP: ALIEN 0.2.2 — HIVES IN WATER, LONE ROYALS, AND A COMMAND OVERHAUL
Follow-up to the hive overhaul patch. Three behaviour fixes, one new mechanic,
and the admin commands rebuilt.
FIXED: XENOMORPHS ON MOVING VEHICLES FROZE THE SERVER
Putting a xenomorph on a Create Aeronautics craft — or any physics entity —
could stall the server for 40 to 125 seconds at a time.
A wandering xenomorph picks somewhere to go and remembers it. That memory was
never checked against how far it had since travelled, so riding a ship a few
thousand blocks left it trying to path to a point on the other side of the
world, generating thousands of chunks of terrain in a single tick to do it.
Two fixes: a passenger no longer wanders at all, since its vehicle decides
where it is going; and a remembered destination is discarded once it drifts too
far from the xenomorph. A ship was only the fastest way to trigger this — a
teleport or a portal did it too.
FIXED: XENOMORPHS IN WATER DIDN'T SWIM
Put one in a lake with nothing to chase and it floated in place, playing the
swim animation while going nowhere.
The cause was that the swim behaviour had never been connected to anything. The
code existed, fully written, and was registered in no AI graph — so it had never
run. Every time a xenomorph has been seen swimming, it was chasing something,
and the swimming was a side effect of the chase.
It is connected now, and there is a new behaviour for the case that was always
missing: a xenomorph in water with nothing to hunt heads for the nearest dry
ground and gets out. Any dry surface counts — a ship's deck, a bridge or a
platform works exactly like a beach.
FIXED: LOOSE XENOMORPHS HAD NOWHERE TO GO
A xenomorph spawned by a player never belonged to a hive, so one left somewhere
remote had nothing to do, permanently.
A loose xenomorph that ends up near a hive is now taken into it. One left far
from any hive stays exactly where you put it.
NEW: ISOLATED ROYALS CAN CROWN THEMSELVES
A praetorian or crusher that belongs to no hive and stands on no hive's
territory now has a future.
After three in-game days alone it begins storing royal jelly internally, at half
the rate a queen's hive produces it, marked by green particles. At 50 jelly it
cocoons and emerges a queen, then goes off to dig and found a hive of its own
like any other new queen.
It is the same price and the same cocoon a hive pays to raise a daughter — the
difference is that a hive spends its stores and a lone royal spends itself.
Being taken in by a hive stops the process, but the jelly already made is kept:
separated again later, it resumes from where it left off.
Growth suppression jelly blocks the process entirely. That is permanent until
cured with metamorphosis, so a suppressed royal will never crown itself however
long it is left alone. Irradiated royals cannot do this at all, as that strain
has no queen form.
ADMIN COMMANDS REBUILT
Everything moved from /avp_alien debug hive … to /avp hive … The old path
still works, so existing macros and command blocks are unaffected.
52 flat commands are now 10 groups: here, inspect, list, trigger, supply,
remove, create, legacy, maintenance, debug.
/avp hive here answers everything about where you are standing in one report —
the hive, its lineage, the nearest queen, egg-laying blockers, targeting and
hunting parties — and prints the location and lineage IDs click-to-copy. Eight
separate commands became one.
Location IDs are now the last argument and are optional. They are UUID-length,
so having them first pushed everything after them off the edge of the chat box.
Omit the ID entirely and the command uses the hive you are standing in.
Added: /avp hive supply jelly <royal|scourge> <amount>
Also fixed a command registration fault that declared the same node twice, which
would have made future permission changes apply to only half the command tree.
A full command guide is available separately.
