Affordable Totems

Affordable Totems adds a balanced alternative to the Totem of Undying without replacing its role in the game.

The Iron Totem can be crafted and is easier to obtain, providing a reliable second chance in difficult situations. It also works directly from your inventory, so it does not need to be held in the player’s hand.

The mod focuses on improving survivability while keeping progression intact. The vanilla Totem of Undying remains stronger and more rewarding to obtain.

Features

Iron Totem

• Craftable survival item
• Activates on death like a totem
• Works from inventory, not just hand or offhand
• Designed to be weaker than the vanilla Totem of Undying

Effects

• Grants Regeneration, Absorption, Slowness, and Fire Resistance
• Effect durations stack when multiple totems activate
• Stacking is capped to maintain balance

Visuals

• Custom activation animation using the Iron Totem
• Custom particle effects using iron and emerald colors
• Designed to feel consistent with vanilla visuals

• Optional 3D model for the Iron Totem

• Can be toggled with a command:

General

• Lightweight and modpack-friendly
• Does not modify mobs, world generation, or progression systems
  
  

  This mod is intended as a middle ground:

  • Easier to access than the vanilla totem
  • Useful in high-difficulty or modded environments
  • Still weaker than the Totem of Undying

  It provides an alternative without removing the value of the original item.
