Once you create a portal, you will spread the Nether into the Overworld. The changes are irreversible. What has become part of the Nether will remain that way. You can prevent the spread by turning off the portal. Piglins and Hoglings will not become zombified as long as they remain in the Nether biomes in the Overworld.
