Description
This data pack serves as an addon to any mod featuring conspicuously resilient foes that don't quite qualify as true bosses and thus lack boss bars of their own, and does basically what the title of the data pack says, by granting them their very own boss bars that track their health (like any other boss should)! This also includes vanilla's Elder Guardian and Warden. Additionally, true bosses that for whatever reason also lack a boss bar of their own have also been granted one to finally bequeath them that more appropriate and clear facade to their boss status that they so deserve.
It is also worth noting that the boss bars added by this data pack do not necessarily work the same way as regular boss bars do, as they won't actually appear right off the bat as when any of the included mini-bosses spawn. Rather, the mini-bosses have to receive at least a single strike of damage from a player in order for the bars to show up. Should the player stray off into the distance at a minimum of 60 blocks from a mini-boss, their health bar will then vanish and require another blow of damage in order for them to reappear once more. These measures serve to prevent the redundancy of boss bars on a player's screen from enemies they aren't anywhere near inclined to provoking, thus rendering the bars obsolete by default.
For mob battles or other testing purposes, you may also run commands to toggle the boss bars on by demand. You can do this by:
- Running the command /trigger mbbbforceshowbossbars
You can disable boss bars from showing up for certain bosses through data packs and giving them the tag #minibossbossbars:boss_exception. For bosses that exist through data packs (like Ultris or Vanilla Mob Minibosses), instead run the command /tag @e[whatever goes in here] add minibossbossbars.boss_exception through a ticking function in a data pack. As to find out whatever goes between those square brackets, feel free to pry open the mod with WinRAR, navigate to data > miniboss_boss_bars > functions and scour through whichever function has their designated mod names to look for the desired boss.
However, if you are unable to do any of the above on your own, you may instead use the configuration data pack for the mod with its own set of instructions on how to utilize it: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/data-packs/mini-boss-boss-bars-configuration-datapack
The data pack doesn't mandate the installation of every listed mod within each version simultaneously; rather, it adjusts to accommodate the ones that are currently installed.
The lists shown below detail what mods and their respective bosses are supported by this data pack.
