Werewolf Mod
Hunt or be hunted — fight werewolves in the wild, risk a deadly bite, and transform into a beast every midnight unless you brew a cure in time.
Overview
This mod adds a lycanthropy curse system to Hytale. Werewolves and wolves roaming the world can infect you with a single bite. Once cursed, you have 30 minutes to craft a Wolfsbane Cure potion — or face transformation into a werewolf every night.
Features

Stage Abilities
- Stage II — unlocks
/sniff(detect creatures in darkness) - Stage IV — increased unarmed damage (12 → 16)
Sniff
- Use
/sniffto detect nearby creatures in low light
Cure
- Craft Wolfsbane Cure to remove the curse
- Grants short immunity after use
Optional Integration
- EasyHunger support (not required)
- Bad food reduces hunger while transformed
Werewolf Transformation
- Triggers at midnight (22:00) if cursed and cure timer has expired
- Player model changes to Werewolf with full visual transformation effects (VFX + sound)
- Damage boost (12) — applies only to unarmed attacks (Stage IV: 16)
- Transformation reverts at dawn (4:00) — but the curse remains until cured
- Curse persists across nights — you will transform again the next midnight
Wolfsbane Cure
- Craftable at the Alchemist's Workbench
- Ingredients: Empty Potion Bottle, Life Essence x3, Blood Petals x5, Fibre x8
- Cures the werewolf curse completely
- Grants 60 seconds of immunity after drinking — prevents re-infection during combat
World Spawns
- Alpha Werewolf — rare, powerful night-only spawn in forests and autumn biomes (300 HP, 66 damage)
- Vanilla Werewolf — spawns alongside Alpha in forests and autumn biomes at night
- Both despawn at dawn — they only roam the world during nighttime
- Dungeon werewolves should not be affected by this mod (not fully tested)
Admin Commands
/werewolf curse— instantly curse a player (skips 30-min delay)/werewolf cure— remove curse and transformation/werewolf status— show current curse/transform state/werewolf reset— full reset of all werewolf data
Gameplay Flow
- Explore the world and encounter werewolves at night or wolves during the day
- Get bitten — a purple overlay flashes and a curse icon appears with a 30-minute countdown
- Find ingredients and craft a Wolfsbane Cure at an Alchemist's Workbench before time runs out
- If you fail to cure yourself, you transform into a werewolf at midnight
- As a werewolf: increased damage, abilities unlocked based on stage
- At dawn you revert to human form — but the curse stays, and you'll transform again the next night
- The only way to permanently remove the curse is the Wolfsbane Cure potion
Player Data
- Curse state is saved per player UUID in a JSON file
- Data persists across server restarts
- Server restart resets visual effects (model, status icons) but curse state is preserved
Known Issues
- Weapons & armor while transformed — The player can still equip weapons and armor in werewolf form. This is a game engine limitation and cannot be disabled at this time.
