Server Install Notes: please remember to shut down your server before install, install the dependencys hyui and multipleHUD which can be found in the relations tab and you should be good to go.

RPG Companion adds a fully-featured RPG companion to Hytale that fights, levels, and grows alongside you. Pick up a sword and your companion becomes a Warrior. Hand it a staff and it's a Mage. Strap on a shield and it tanks for you. With 7 weapon-driven classes, 21 unique abilities, 90 talents, and a full stat system — your companion isn't just following you around, it's building a character right next to you.
All progress is fully persistent. Your companion's gear, stats, talents, and level survive logouts, despawns, and server restarts.

Classes — You Don't Pick, You Equip
Your companion's class is determined automatically by what you put in its hands. Swap weapons and the class changes instantly — different abilities, different combat role, different playstyle.

Each class uses its own NPC combat role — melee fighters get in close, archers keep their distance, and mages sit in the mid-range. Your companion actually fights smart.

21 Abilities
Every armed class has 3 ability slots that fire automatically during combat:
- Minor (90s cooldown) — Quick, reliable damage
- Major (180s cooldown) — Bigger impact, status effects
- Signature (320s cooldown) — The showstopper
Abilities use 6 different targeting types: single target, sweep, AOE, projectile, deployable, and multi-hit. Signature abilities like Blade Dance, Rampage, and Arrow Storm deal damage over multiple ticks with a big explosion finisher.
Status effects include Stun, Knockback, Burn DOT, and Slow. The Engineer's turrets are fully independent — they track enemies and fire projectiles on their own timers. The Mage fires magic missiles between ability cooldowns to keep up pressure.
Class passives: Tanks force nearby enemies to aggro with Taunt. Berserkers trigger Frenzy at low HP for +50% damage.

90 Talents
A 5-tier talent tree unlocks as your companion levels up at levels 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50. Each tier offers 3 choices — pick one.
That's 15 talents per class across 6 armed classes = 90 unique talents.
Talent effects include damage bonuses, cooldown reduction, extra targets, range increases, crit damage, extra turrets, extended durations, and more. Don't like your choices? Free resets are available (configurable by server).
Abilities are gated behind talent investment — you choose what your companion unlocks.

Stats & Leveling
6 Stats
Strength · Vitality · Endurance · Agility · Intelligence · Luck
Earn stat points every level and allocate them how you want. Each stat translates into real bonuses — damage, HP, defense, crit chance, cooldown reduction, and crit damage. Diminishing returns kick in at higher values, so spreading points has value. Free resets are available every few levels.
XP & Leveling
Your companion earns XP from dealing damage and scoring kills. The XP curve scales with level, and the level cap, XP rates, and multipliers are all server-configurable.
Equipment
6 gear slots: Weapon, Offhand, Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, Boots
Equipped items display visually on your companion's model. Gear provides stat bonuses to damage, defense, and crit. Offhand supports shields and torches, with two-handed weapons (bows, crossbows, battleaxes) automatically blocking the offhand slot. All equipment persists across sessions.
Combat AI
Three combat modes you can cycle through:
- Passive — Won't fight. Just follows you around.
- Aggressive — Reacts to threats. Fights what you fight and defends you when you take damage.
- Hunt — Goes on the offensive. Attacks anything hostile within aggro range.
Your companion also defends itself when hit, resets ability cooldowns when entering combat, and independently scans for hostile targets. When its target dies, it returns to your side.

Dependencies
Install these before RPG Companion (found in the Relations tab):

- Install dependencies (HyUI, MultipleHUD) to your
mods/folder - Copy

- Player data saves automatically to
mods/RPGCompanion_SaveData/
Single Player
Single-player mode is now supported in beta. Server version is fully stable. Please report any single-player issues on Discord.
Updating
- Stop your server
- Replace the old JAR with the new JAR in
mods/ - Start the server — saved data is preserved automatically
If updating from v1.0.x, keep the old mod folder during the first launch so migration can find your player data. Check logs for [Migration] messages, then delete old folders.

/pet spawninstead of/c(or configure your own command in settings) - Gear with durability loss cannot currently be equipped — items must be new/undamaged

For Server Admins
RPG Companion is built to be configurable. The admin panel gives you a 7-tab GUI with 26 config keys across 6 categories — all hot-reloadable at runtime. XP curves, combat values, follow distances, aggro radius, crit multipliers, stat points per level, diminishing return thresholds — everything is tunable without restarting your server.
Permissions are UUID-based with automatic bypass in single-player. Config versioning handles automatic migration so updates don't break your setup.
