A cozy little magic mod for Hytale~
So what even IS this mod?
Katie's Magic mod adds a small but wholesome set of magical items and tools
to Hytale, centered around a mage leveling system that grows with you as you play.
The more you cast, the stronger and more capable your magic becomes — spells hit
harder, heal more, mana refills faster, and entirely new options open up the higher
you climb. Everything is craftable at your trusty Workbench, so no mysterious
special benches needed to get started!
The Katie Spellbook
Your bread and butter. Left click charges up a heal that restores health to
yourself — the amount scales with your mage level, so a high level mage is
able to heal much more heath. Right click hurls a fireball that also scales in damage
as you grow. Both spells cost mana, so keep an eye on that blue bar!
There's also a handy little UI you can pop open while holding Any spellbook
with a press of Q that shows your current mage level, and what your spells are
capable of doing.
The Soul Tome
This one's a bit more interesting. Left click lets you link yourself to a
nearby mob(s), creating a magical bond between you. While linked, damage dealt
to YOU is redirected to your linked mob instead and you slowly syphon
health from linked mobs — the first mob linked feels your pain but the
others just heal you from their health pool.
A purple rune floats above your linked mob(s) when cast so you
always know who's healing your player.
Right click activates a passive Other Heal — this one is a two way street,
on one hand your health goes down to hurt none friendly mobs, on the other it
slowly siphons health from you to your trusty linked Ally mob or nearby players.
unless none can be found of course.. then the nearest mob
will take damage with you.
at high enough levels with both heal other and soul syphon multiple links going?
You become quite the force of nature.
Oh, and if your linked mob happens to... not survive... a ally skelly warior will rise in its place~
or~ if the mob is a tameable critter like a cute bunny it will kill the untame bunny and raise a tame
bunny in its place
The Ground Tome
Oh boy. This is the fun one.
The Ground Tome is a terraforming spellbook. Hold left click and it will
break a square area of blocks beneath (or above!) your feet and drop them
straight into your inventory — no running around picking things up. silk touch all blocks~!
Starting at a tidy 3x3, and unlocking larger sizes as your mage level grows:
5x5, 7x7, 9x9, 11x11, and eventually a glorious 13x13 that carves out
an absolutely massive hole in the world. One cast. Done.
right click does the reverse — it places blocks from your Ground Pack (a
special bag that lives in the tome's Q menu) in layered structures above or
below you. Small sizes just lay down a flat platform. Larger sizes build
proper layered pyramids, pulling from different sections of your pack for
each tier of the structure. Perfect for building floating islands, bridges,
or just covering a mistake really fast.
The tome's menu also lets you toggle between placing/breaking ABOVE the
player (great for ceilings and floating islands) or BELOW (for floors and
excavation). Your Ground Pack holds up to 9 stacks of blocks split across
three groups, so you can load it up with different materials and watch the
structure come together in layers of mixed blocks if you want~
the first 3 slots from the left are the top layers, next three place middle, and the last three place the bottom layers.
The Scry Tome & Scrying Torches
Place a Scrying Torch somewhere in the world — on a hilltop, inside a cave,
at the edge of your base — and then press Q to use the Scry Tome to jump your camera
view to it from anywhere. Great for keeping an eye on things
from a distance, or just getting a dramatic cinematic angle of your builds.
You can register multiple torches and pick which one to view from a handy
list in the Q menu. Press the stop scry button to snap back to yourself.
your player can move while the camera is unlinked, build place ext so be careful!
Oh did i mention the cute fox~? it spawns at your scry torch to let others
know they are being watched! she is a magical fox and only exists to scry with you~
with the new hytale update 4 i will this fox will take your mic input, letting you
speak threw the fox! say, in the walls of another player's base? for example~
Ether Pipes
A little bit of automation magic! Ether Pipes are glowing pink conduits that
connect chests and containers, automatically moving items between them on a
tick (a snap of your fingers~!). Place them between any two containers,
configure which side extracts and which side receives using the pipe's config menu,
and watch your items flow.
They connect in networks, turn corners, split to multiple destinations —
build whatever layout you need. They glow a lovely hot pink which means your
base will look very cool at night, as a bonus.
to filter a pipe hold the item you want filtered in your hand and click on the grey
box in the ether pipe Gui, this will spawn a floating clone of that item to show
what is being filtered. this floating clone may despawn but the filter will stay!
yes, mages can make pipes too, we are not cave people here!
The Mage Level System
All of the above feeds into and is fed by your Katie Mage Level. save for the scry fox and pipe,
You earn XP by casting spells, breaking blocks with the Ground Tome, landing hits and
kills with the Fire Ball, redirecting life force with Soul Links, and more. As
you level up your mana pool grows, your spells scale up, the Ground Tome
unlocks larger break areas, Soul link links more souls,
Katie's pink book deals more damage and heals more,
and your mana regenerates faster to keep up.
If the MMOSkillTree mod is also installed, XP flows into your Magic skill
there instead, and your spell output gets boosted by any Magic multipliers
you've earned threw MMOSkillTree. Either way the progression feels smooth and rewarding~
Crafted with love (and a lot of trial and error) for all of you mages out there.
