A simple jetpack to help you get around

Description

Jetpack joyride is a simple jetpack mod.

Jetpack in flight

Features

Its a jetpack that allows the user fly for about 5 minutes before needing repair.

Instructions

  • Jetpacks are crafted in the armor table
    • 10 Copper Bars
    • 5 Iron Bars
    • 4 Light leather
  • Equip to chest slot
  • Crouch to use

Information

You will get a notification when you are at 25% and 5% fuel. When the jetpack is out of fuel, it breaks. Jetpacks can be refueled by repairing.

The durability of the jetpack is not a reflection how how much fuel is remaining

Disclaimer

Gravity is very strong in hytale - nearly 4x stronger than earth. In the future I plan to let you fall from jetpack flight more gracefully. This has the effect of not making the jetpack too overpowered.

I had to make some less than satisfactory design decisions due to engine limitations. Currently, it is not possible to get arbitrary user inputs so the jetpack HAS to operate on crouch. Mods can only get a defined set of user actions (i.e Walking, Jumping, Crouching), and in this instance, i was not able to get the jetpack to function when the user is jumping because players only technically "jump" when they are jumping from the ground, not when they are holding space

Planned features

Ordered by how soon I am likely to implement them

  • Increased horizontal speed when flying
  • Decreased gravity while flying - this should make the Jetpack more controllable
  • Proper fueling system. I may wait until an energy mod is available
  • More jetpacks
  • Hover mode (Currently difficult due to player input limitations)

Jetpack on ground

Known Issues / Limitations

- Jetpacks can only be refueled when repaired from completely broken. Repairing a jetpack that is not 'broken' will not refuel it

- If you are flying in to the ceiling, there is a chance you will no-clip/teleport through the floor. This is similar to what you might have seen with minecarts phasing through the ground. I think that this is a Hytale issue
