Deep farming overhaul : soil quality, crop rotation, and seasons.

HyValley transforms Hytale's farming into a rewarding system where the land remembers what you plant. Monoculture depletes your soil, crop rotation restores it, and pristine soil rewards you with bonus harvests. Neglect your fields and they'll stop producing entirely.

Fallow soil system : Empty tilled soil recovers quality over time on season change. Three tiers: watered soil (+12/season), tilled dry (+8/season), neglected dry (diminishing 5/3/1/0). Water your fallow fields for maximum recovery. HUD and F key inspection show fallow status and projected bonus.
Season Crop Kill : Crops in a lethal season are destroyed on season change. Replaced with a custom withered crop block. Eternal crops are immune.
Withered Crop Block : First iteration of custom withered crops blocks. Dead crops leave visible withered stubble on the soil instead of vanishing. You need to destroy them to clear you fields and plant again. No drops. I edit them by hand. Withered wheat is the default fallback. I will add more over time.

Features

Soil Quality System

Every tilled soil block tracks a hidden quality value (0–100) that affects your harvests:

Pristine (80–100): 50% chance of bonus crop drops
Fertile (50–79): Normal yields
Tired (25–49): Normal yields, no bonuses
Depleted (0–24): 50% chance of failed harvest. Crop destroyed

Crop Rotation

Planting the same crop family repeatedly drains the soil (-8 per harvest). Switch to a different family and the soil recovers (+6 per harvest). Crops are grouped into families: Grains (wheat, corn, rice), Roots (carrot, potato, turnip, onion), Fruiting (tomato, chilli, aubergine, pumpkin), Leafy (lettuce, cauliflower), Fiber (cotton), and Alchemy (health/mana/stamina herbs).

Soil Inspection

Press F on empty tilled soil to check its quality, label, and last crop planted.

Season System

Four seasons cycle through your world, each affecting crop growth speed globally. Spring brings faster growth (1.5×), winter slows everything down (0.3×). Every crop has a preferred season shown in the HUD. Wheat thrives in spring, tomatoes prefer summer, and root vegetables endure winter better than most.

Configurable : disable the season growth modifier for compatibility with Dynamic Seasons or other season mods.

Real-Time Soil HUD

Toggle with /hvhud shows everything about the tile you're looking at:

Crop name and growth stage
Soil quality with colour coded label
Watered and fertilized status with multiplier values
Current season effect on the specific crop
Total growth multiplier

Auto-hides when you look away

Crop Inspection (F key)

Press F on any growing crop or tilled soil to see detailed info in chat : soil quality, watered/fertilized status, season modifier, and total growth speed.

Eternal Crop Support

Eternal crops skip soil degradation entirely. No quality loss on harvest.

Installation

Place HyValley jar in your server's mods/ folder
Restart the server
A default config.json is created in mods/greugreu_HyValley/

Requires: Hytale dedicated server with the Farming module enabled (default).

Compatibility

Dynamic Seasons full Integration

HyValley offers full compatibility with BlueOrbit's Dynamic Seasons mod. Configure the interaction with two settings in config.json:
