HySkills

HySkills adds RPG-style progression to your world by requiring skill levels to use stronger gear and interact with tougher content.

You earn XP by defeating enemies, level up your skills, and unlock better weapons, tools, armor, and gameplay interactions, at the style of Minecraft mods like Skillable and Reskillable.

You can win XP by killing creatures, and extra XP with other mods like Zombie Nights or Mob Events.

⚠️ WIP… There are still many features and adjustments to come.

ℹ️ What this mod does

Adds a shared XP pool and individual skills.
Grants kill XP dynamically based on enemy toughness (higher max health = more XP).
Restricts items, blocks, entities, and mechanics by skill requirements.
Includes a clean in-game UI to check skill levels, costs, and upgrades.
Keeps armor restrictions player-friendly: you can equip restricted armor, but it becomes less effective (you take extra damage).

✏️ Restriction customization

HySkills is designed to be easy to customize through JSON files in the mod data config folder.

Main files:

config/hyskills_settings.json
config/skills_restrictions.json
config/skills_restrictions_pjmods.json

How it loads restriction files:

By default, it auto-loads every file named skills_restrictions*.json.
You can also define an exact file list and order in hyskills_settings.json with restrictionFiles.

This makes it easy to split restrictions into multiple files for large modpacks.

📦 Default presets included

A dedicated preset file is bundled for Pedrijoe mods:

HyperCrossbows
HyperPickaxes
HyperGlowingArmors
etc…

These default values are aligned with similar vanilla item tiers so progression feels natural.
