Description
Echoes of the Burrow introduces a curious and interactive mechanic for Hytale. This mod adds a special block called the Scarak Cage that allows players to place a Scarak Egg Sack. When activated, a baby Scarak Louse hatches and creates a hidden burrow, connecting underground areas to the surface.
Players can interact with the burrow to escape caves naturally. Upon emerging, a temporary slow effect is applied, and the Scarak Louse waits at the exit, forcing careful planning. Each burrow provides a dynamic and emergent way to leave caves, blending risk and reward.

Configuration
The mod is configurable, allowing you to adjust how the burrow mechanics behave. These settings can be found in the configuration file located in the mods directory after the first run:
- DebugLogs (default: false) – Enable detailed logging for troubleshooting and mod development.
- MaxSearchAttempts (default: 8) – Controls how many attempts the Scarak Louse makes to find a valid location for its burrow.
- SearchRadii (default: 5, 10, 20, 40, 80, 150, 225, 300) – Defines the distances the Scarak can search when creating a burrow, allowing tuning of how far it may travel.
- InteractionCooldown (default: 5.0 seconds) – The minimum time to interact.
These settings allow players to fine-tune the mod.
