Description
This was meant to be a fully-fledged minigame, but I didn't have time to finish it for the mod jam so I'm releasing just the world map. There's still a challenge for y'all: find all the different flowers and shrooms in the map, there're 13 of them!
To install, drop the zip file in your Mods folder. You can access the world of botany by typing the commands /op self then /instance and navigate to BlossomRoads -> Botanist
You can leave using the command /instance exit
There're 2 biomes: forest and mountains. This map use it's own biome distribution, instead of Hytale's "one biome in each cell", which becomes very obvious once you start paying attention. Here the forests are located in the center of each cell, with a "mountain ring" in the boundaries, then I added some jitter on top to hide the pattern.
This map isn't super pretty from bird's eye view, but that was never the goal.
Some serious thought went into making exploration feel as good as possible. Forests are dense and filled with small hills that block the player's vision, while crisscrossed with clearings that help guide the player. I tried to make mountains have many depression "pockets" because they feel like an "aha" moment every time you find one. The mountains themselves are very small so climbing them isn't a chore.
The code for mountain generation was highly inspired by Gaia (basically: cell noise with a few octaves and some warping)
Where each flower/shroom is located:
Crepúsculo: common in forests, always on the west side of a tree
Fractal, Rio, Névoa and Plasma: regional flowers, they spawn very often but never close to each other
Silvestre and Mítico: spawn rarely in forests, Mítico always forms fairy rings
Tapeçaria: very rare, but when it spawns it comes in very large groups replacing grass
Viúva and Conselho: common in mountains, spawn more often the higher you go
Prata: very rare, also spawns high in mountains but this one can survive on snow
Marquesa: the rarest flower, comes alone and can spawn anywhere
Marinho: spawn in a large area around Marquesas, if you find these shrooms start looking for the rare flower nearby!
The names are spelled in brazilian portuguese ;)
