Better Trades deeply expands Hytale’s trading system through NPCs, introducing new exchange mechanics and meaningful progression.
This mod turns trading into a core gameplay pillar, offering valuable rewards, long-term progression, and strong incentives to explore and develop your world.
🏛️ New Merchants in the Main Temple
In the Main Temple, the same place where the bestiary is unlocked, you will find several specialized merchant NPCs, each focused on a specific type of trade:
🧱 Special and Decorative Blocks
Includes a new merchant dedicated exclusively to all wood log types in the game, as well as another merchant offering a wide variety of decorative blocks.
🧪 Potion Shop
The alchemy merchant offers potions designed to be more relevant for combat, exploration, and survival, adapted to different stages of the game.
🗿 Unique Statues and Building Elements
Exclusive decorative objects created for advanced builds and world customization.
📜 Exclusive Crafting Recipes
Unlock special recipes that cannot be obtained through traditional means, reinforcing the sense of progression through trading.
🏺 Decoration Blocks (Chests & Jars)
A dedicated decoration merchant offering now have custom chests and decorative jars, perfect for storage builds and adding extra detail and atmosphere to your creations.
💚 Currency System: Life Essences
All trades use Life Essences, a new currency designed to integrate naturally into the gameplay loop.
Life Essences can be obtained in two ways:
🌾 Farming: through a revamped cultivation system that makes farming more rewarding and relevant.
🌍 Exploration: by finding fully grown essences scattered across different world biomes.
This system allows players to choose between a relaxed farming-focused playstyle or a more adventurous exploration-based approach.
🚶♂️ Wandering Trader
A wandering trader has been added and appears periodically in the world.
🛒 This merchant offers more powerful trades, including:
- Ingots
- High-tier and potion-related seeds
- Common and rare ingredients
⚖️ While these trades may seem overpowered, they are carefully balanced through high costs, limited availability, and reliance on Life Essences, ensuring the game’s progression is not broken.
Its appearance encourages constant exploration and adds an element of surprise to the trading system.
