Age of Strategy — a real-time strategy mod where players claim territory, activate RTS mode at Gem blocks to construct structures, command NPC armies, and survive endless enemy waves in an instance.

Description

Welcome to Age of Hytale! This mod turns the game into a Real-Time Strategy (RTS) experience. You are on the front lines: you play as the commander of your own army. Your goal is to manage resources, recruit troops, and survive increasingly brutal enemy waves.

Core Mechanics & Economy:

Recruitment: Build Barracks and Archery Ranges to spawn troops.

Farming: Send your units to hunt Trorks. Killing them is your main source of resources.

Progression: Spend resources to queue more troops, or build a Market and a Forge to buy gear and upgrade your character's stats.

Match Conditions:

Rewards: Surviving waves triggers better loot.

Game Over: If you die, you lose the match.

Quick Guide and Controls:

Use the magic book crafted at the workbench to see the instructions.
Hold the book to enter the instance and start playing.
I recommend waiting for the gem name to appear on the map before starting.

Advanced Controls:

Right click while a building is selected to rotate it before placing.
Hold right click to quickly exit the construction menu.
I recommend not interacting with the gem until the compass/map icon appears.

Clarifications:

Originally, I wasn't planning on making this mod. It started as a personal, long-term project to learn how to create a unique RTS at my own pace. However, earlier this month, unexpected personal and family circumstances forced me to change my plans and scale down that project into this mod. I will still be working on the massive RTS project, and I'll keep updating this mod to build mechanics, test mobs, create maps, etc.

Technical Note on Kweebec Javelin: To achieve its unique attack mechanic, the unit essentially throws itself as a projectile. Due to a current engine quirk, using the standard remove event:

"Type": "Remove",
"UseTarget": false

fails to execute properly (you can actually test and verify this issue yourself using the vanilla Test_remove NPC). To prevent the Kweebec from cloning itself, I had to use a standard despawn as a workaround. This causes a minor visual glitch (the despawn animation plays during the transition), but mechanically, the unit is 100% functional and balanced! I will smooth out this visual transition once the Hytale developers patch the remove function.

AI Usage Disclosure:

I used AI as a reference and technical support tool. It helped me resolve questions, clear up errors, speed up debugging, and optimize certain mechanics. For my part, I was responsible for all the mod's logic, the design and balancing of the mechanics, and the integration of the systems. Furthermore, I personally handled all the modeling and texturing of the visual assets, the artistic derivation of the icons, image vectorization, the UI code, the enemy AI configuration, the creation and adjustment of the Java base, brainstorming mechanics to bypass technical issues, and, of course, acting as my own beta tester.
