Pawn
Last Updated: Feb 17, 2019 Game Version: 8.1.0
Pawn helps you find upgrades for your gear and tell which of two items is better for your spec. Start with built-in advice from Ask Mr. Robot, or customize Pawn's stat weights to have it suggest items based on your favorite class guide or simulator. Pawn can help you decide whether it's better to use the cloak with 100 mastery or the one with 80 crit—whether you're just starting out, or you're an advanced player who plans out gear upgrades and regularly simulates and evaluates performance.
Language support
Pawn works with English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish (European and Latin American), Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Unlike most addons, Pawn's language has to match the language you play WoW in.
Staying in touch
Become a fan of Vger on Facebook and get updates of new versions and stuff like that. You can also leave questions or comments there if you don't have an account on this site.
Prerelease alpha versions of Pawn are occasionally available on CurseForge.
Getting started
If you're new to Pawn, don't worry—Pawn will automatically set itself up to give you advice based on math done by the experts at Ask Mr. Robot. Just watch for Pawn's green arrows. If you decide you want to go further, there are a lot of ways that you can customize Pawn, by tracking multiple specs at once, importing custom stat weights, and more.
Found a bug?
If you think you might have found a bug, just leave a comment here. In addition to a description of the problem, please make sure to include: (1) the language that you use Pawn and WoW in, (2) the specific items that don't work as expected, and (3) your class and spec if you're using the built-in (not custom) stat weights. Screenshots are usually very helpful as well.
Incompatible with...
Pawn will not work with Titan Panel Artifact Power or Combat Numbers Separator. Those addons change item tooltips and will cause Pawn to give bad advice. It's also been reported that using Pawn with TradeSkillMaster can cause the game to crash or hang.
The tooltip option has yet to be fixed
I just tested with a fresh copy on a different PC than I normally use, and I verified that the option worked for me in 0.8.1. Can you verify the following?
* Delete your existing copy of Pawn. (This won't delete your scales or settings.)
* Replace it with a freshly downloaded copy. (Make sure that you get 0.8.1 and not 0.8 again.)
* Log in
* Turn off the tooltip icons option
* Log out
* Log back in
You should see that the icons are gone. Note that if you just turned the option off, then upgraded to Pawn 0.8.1, you'll still need to turn that option off one last time, because the problem was that Pawn 0.8 was not saving the setting properly, so Pawn 0.8.1 doesn't know you changed it in the previous version.
Another week, another Pawn version... version 0.8.1 has a variety of bug fixes ("feature enhancements"), and also a new feature that lets you instantly calculate the total values of all equipment you're wearing by hovering over the Pawn button on the character sheet. Finally, there's a new icon that appears on OTHER peoples' character sheets when you inspect them, and you can hover over it to get totals for all of their gear, so you can easily see who has the better gear.
I'm having the same problem as Andilas.
I'm having a bit of a problem with 0.8, in that it doesn't seem to save changes I make to the options across sessions. Specifically, I keep turning off the item tooltip icon option, and as soon as I exit the game, it turns itself right back on. I've tried setting "ShowTooltipIcons" to false manually in the various savedvariables files, but that resets itself to true automatically as well. Otherwise, very nice job.
Hmm, I'll take a look this weekend. Thanks for the report. Have you noticed this happening for any other options, or just the icons option?
Never mind; I found the bug and fixed it. All of the on/off options that default to being on (show enchanted values, show unenenchanted values, and show tooltip icons) automatically turn back on after logging out and back in. This will be fixed for Pawn 0.8.1.
Pawn just had a big update, and it's up to 0.8 now. There are two major changes in this version: the most important one is that there's a UI for setting all of the Pawn options now, so you don't need to use slash commands and the readme file to get it set up the way you want. The other notable feature in this release is the ability to have Pawn normalize your values by dividing by the sum of all of the numbers in your scale, the way that Lootzor does. Look for this feature on the new Options tab on the same UI you use to set up your scales.
oh no!! dude fix that drive!! :D thanks for the addon too :>
Well, my DVD drive seems to have died, so that means no BioShock for Vger for a couple days, and that also means a shiny new Pawn 0.7.5 for you guys. :) This version has an assortment of random features: Pawn adds inventory icons to item link tooltips by default now (you can turn them off; let me know what you think), you can right-align numbers on your tooltips, and you can now assign points to items just for being a certain type of weapon (for example, assigning points to an axe if you're an orc because you get an extra 1% crit with axes).
People tell me that orcs currently get expertise, not crit. As a troll, I'm behind the times on post-patch racials since trolls have stupid ones. :)
Just wanted to send out another accolade for a great addon and thanks for your continued maintenance of it.
The only thing I'd love to see is a resource to find scales for various classes (with some theorycraft behind the choice in numbers) so that I could use Pawn for alts. All I seem able to use it for is Rogues and Hunters, since they have a calculated system of Agility Equivalence.
The forums linked to in the mod's description have quite a few examples to go on, and there are some other ideas in the "Sample scales" document that comes with Pawn. I recently updated it to include updated versions of some of the more popular valuation systems I've seen mentioned in the WoW forums. But yes, we could definitely use more suggestions for caster item values, for example.
Yea, i was wondering how do you turn off the vendor price and current item location..already have vendor price and i don't want to see the item/items origin...Thank You
Hi... Pawn doesn't add either of those things to the item tooltips. You must have downloaded another mod that does that.
Thank you very much for the FuBar plugin :)
Very cool mod, thanks for all the hard work,

I released the final Pawn 0.7.4. There are no new features since the beta; I've merely changed a few graphics here and there and made a few other minor tweaks.
I posted a Titan Panel plugin for Pawn. It adds a little (P) in the upper-right corner that you can use to immediately show the Pawn UI. You'll need to enable it from the Titan menu after installation.
"unenchanted item should not be nil" in 0.7.4 beta :(
Can you be specific? When do you see the message? What other tooltip mods do you use? Is this a change from 0.7.3?
