There existed in forgotten WoW history, a guild mistress who decried that all members of her guild should greet her in guild chat whenever she appeared. Dutifully, greetings of "Hi Neeve" would occasionally appear in chat - if members were not busy questing or otherwise engaged in dungeons or fishing. Her rantings became more frequent and demanding, until she kicked everyone from her guild that quested, ran dungeons, or fished and didn't greet her. Her guild became very lonely, and the only guild chats left were her greeting herself. Don't do this to your guild mistress or guild master. Greet them - and everyone else - when they arrive. Even announce to your guild members that you have appeared and are ready to quest, run a dungeon, or go fishing.
