Basic Configuration
NeatPlates is a nameplate addon that works with both the Classic and Modern version of WoW.
Use the command, '/NeatPlates' or '/np'
as a shortcut to the interface panel for Neat Plates. On that panel, you'll be able to select from a list of available themes. The theme you choose will affect both appearance and features.
Use the command, '/hub'
to configure the mechanics of those included themes. If you're using a custom theme, it might have a different config tool.
Credits
This addon is based on the Tidy Plates project and was created during a period of time where said project was no longer working with the current version of the game. As such I feel it is important to credit the original authors, danltiger and CynthiaV, for all the work they put into the original addon.
Bugs
If you come across any bugs, don't hesitate to open up an issue. I highly recommend reporting issues through GitHub rather than the comments section as it is a lot easier to keep track of on GitHub, and I don't check comments as often.
Classic
The Twitch client can be a bit weird about differentiating between the Classic and BFA version, it's recommended that you make sure you are on the correct version by clicking on the Addon name(NeatPlates) in the Twitch client and then clicking on Versions and installing the latest version with 1.13.6.xx in the name. Or you can install it manually by downloading this version: 1.13.6.1
FAQ
Can I change the nameplate distance in Classic?
No, Blizzard has locked the nameplate distance to 20yds in Classic
For TBC you are once again allowed to modify the nameplate distance, so if you are on the TBC client you can find the slider for this in the CVars section of the main options.
Why do my friendly nameplates change/not work when I enter a dungeon?
Somtime in Legion, Blizzard blocked the ability to alter friendly nameplates while in dungeons and raids. This is the same for both Classic and Retail.
Can I disable castbars?
Yes, it's located in the main addon settings under Other Settings.
Can I change the default class colors?
Sadly there isn't a built in option for this, but NeatPlates does support other addons that change the default class colors such as (Class Colors and BlueShamans)
Is this abbandond? No update since Jan for 10.5 or 10.7?
.
i get a wooping 20-30 fps drops when there is more than 2 nameplates on the screen ctrl+v back to normal so its 100% neatplates. its not throwing lua errors but jesus christ you have QUITE the performance issue there. and im not having a slow machine :-)
In reply to lvll:
I'd be really curious to know what settings you were using to get such a big performance hit. Because there are certain setting/feature combinations that can have a greater impact on performance. But I'm generally talking 15+ nameplates before it would even really become noticeable.
How do I change the size of the health bar?
In reply to Cbear_corey:
If you only want to change the size of the healthbar, you can change the width quite easily at the bottom of your profile settings.
If you want to change the height however there's no easy way to do this currently. But you can, with a bit of effort, do it through the Theme Customization. But it does require moving quite a few elements of the nameplate around.
Hi, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction because this is driving me crazy. I have it set up so that friendly name plates are enabled but do not display health/cast bars, just their name. However, raid markers anchor to the left of their nameplate rather than above/below it. Turning off friendly player nameplates fixes this in that the marker appears above the character, but obviously removes all the nameplate formatting. Googling this issue just brings up fixes for plater which doesn't help.
How do I shift the raid marker anchor on friendly name plates to appear directly above the character - in the screen shot below, the red and blue marker are how I would like it, and the skull marker is currently how it is on all friendly characters. Many many thanks if someone can help out.
In reply to Asherak:
At the bottom of your profile settings, there's a button for Theme Customization. These settings let you move around the raid icon.
For your specific case make sure the Style Mode is set to Headline/Text-Only, as the configuration is done separately for the two modes.
For me the combo points colors are bugged. You can see in the image for the addon page they go from yellow to red. Currently mine are all red.
In reply to Volitar:
Hi, the combo point/personal resource handling was re-written for Dragonflight to make it easier to maintain and make changes. Which move it over to a single color instead, which made it more like the default combo points. But sadly as a result it currently does not support the old gradiant style. The idea is to re-add it asap but I currently do not have time frame for this.
NeatPlates causes the keyboard to completely stop working in-game, after the recent Ulduar patch in WoW Classic WotlK. Is there a chance this could be investigated? Blizzard apparently updated the API to be equivalent with Retail.
Hiya. I have enemy nameplates automation set to show in combat, which works as intended.
If I set Battleground & Arena to show, and I then enter an Epic Battleground, the nameplates still only show during combat, which makes targeting in PvP hard.
I'd expect the nameplates to show all the time during the battleground with these settings, but they don't. Is that correct?
How do i turn off other enemy player pets such as hunter / warlock pets?
I've ticked "exclude minions" under "All NPCs" in the Nameplate style section but they still show.
I'm experiencing an issue with pandemic highlighting. It works for enemies but doesnt not work for friendly players when using hots. Am i missing a setting?
In reply to xardra:
You are not missing anything. Seems this was set to only work with debuffs, and not buffs when it was first added a long time ago. I cannot remember a reason for it being limited to debuffs, so I've changed it to also work with buffs in the latest release.
How i can move raid icons in the target? skull sqaure and other symbols appears at the left of neatplates, i would like to move the icon
In reply to Squallx19:
You can do this through the Theme Customization found at the bottom of the profile settings.
Hi,
is it possible to disable only enemy Nameplate stacking if they are in fight?
I only see the Healthbar from Enemy Units only if they are in fight. thats good, but they stack and i cant click important mobs
In reply to Yasinah:
I don't believe there is a way to make only active nameplates stack sadly. Either stacking is enabled or not, as this is a blizzard setting.
In reply to Luxie:
ok Thx... and i only change it for all Nameplates right (Friendly and Enemy) or can i change it for enemy only?
