[Edit March 16, 2014: Unless Blizzard eventually makes it so that custom sound files do not work, or I eventually fix the sound up a bit more, this file should work forever. Don't mind the inactive marker, as it is not indicative of this particular file working or not. Just download and go!]
Finally fed up with the general bubbling sound a Mage's water elemental makes, I decided to mix some sounds together to make something.... less irritating.
There's still a watery sound to this, as I didn't want to completely do away with that. Though, instead of something bubbly, I went with underwater ambiance. I also layered some other sound effects to make the water elemental sound more ethereal and... magey, I suppose. Like something from a temporal void/world/what have you.
It's not perfect, by any means, but it's better than the vanilla sound file. And, if you play with your music turned all the way up, you will only hear it faintly. Unlike the vanilla sound file.
It is worth noting that this is NOT an addon file. It is a sound replacement file.
In order to 'install' this sound file, navigate to
World of Warcraft/Data/Sound/
If you do not have a file named "sound" already, either copy the one from my zip file and paste it all in, or make one and do the following:
Unzip the file, navigate into the file named "sound", copy the file that says "creature" and paste into your sound folder. If for whatever reason you have both a sound and creature file, and don't already know how to do this, then just copy the file that says "WaterElemental" into your creature file.
Be sure to exit game and then log back in for it to work.
