Bugs or Feature requests
If you find any bugs or problems please post them to the GitHub issue tracker.
Hi, thanks for what is so far the best quest tracker addon for Classic!
Humble suggestion: an option to increase the distance scrolled. I counted, and it takes 55 scrollwheel actions (notches? bumps?) to go from top to bottom.
Hey Aelius!
Thanks for the suggestion, I've opened an issue on GitHub to track this feature request.
Quest proximity does not work in instances like ZF.
Hey Fire, thanks for providing the error.
I've opened an issue for this on GitHub.
EDIT: This issue show now be resolved in 1.9.4
I prefer to sort the tracker by level, so I set BQT to do so. It appears to sort by zone, and then level, instead of only by level. Is it supposed to do that, or is this a bug?
Hey RPG,
It sorts by the level, however the zone for the lowest level quest would take priority.
Given the following example
[27] Quest A - Zone A
[40] Quest B - Zone A
[41] Quest C - Zone A
[25] Quest D - Zone B
[20] Quest E - Zone C
This should be sorted like the following...
Zone C
[20] Quest E
Zone B
[25] Quest D
Zone A
[27] Quest A
[40] Quest A
[41] Quest A
In reply to Stormie25:
OK, I can live with that. Thanks for the reply, and a great addon :)
Hey RPG, after digging into a related issue I ended up discovering that regardless of whether the
user had zone headers enabled / disabled it always sorted by the zone.
This WASN'T intended and has been fixed in 1.9.5.
The scenario I mentioned below was specifically in regards to if you had zone headers enabled.
As always, thanks for your feedback and continued support!
I'm loving this addon so far, probably my new favorite quest tracker!
A couple suggestions I miss from other quest trackers, it might sound silly but I miss the sound notifications other similar addons use, like when you complete part of the objective you get the classic Peon "More Work" sound, and when you completely finish the quest you get the Peon "Job's Done". I've just gotten so used to those sounds when Im questing I realize I miss them lol.
The other suggestion is to have an option to color your objectives by completion gradient. Like if you have 0/10 hooves collected the text is red, and gradually turns to green when you have 10/10 collected, and then maybe set a specific color when the quest is completely done.
Either way, really enjoy this addon, just a couple suggestions that a lot of the popular alternatives have added in as options!
Hey Jexx, thanks for taking the time to provide feedback!
I've opened issues for adding Objective Sound Effects and Adding Color to Objective Text based on Completion to the roadmap for 1.10.
i had an idea, i love this addon, but...for my suggestion, is it possible to hook the quest timer in with this, so you can move it with the quest log? i just really hate the position the quest timer is in. and i love to be able to move it with my quest tracker. thanks for your work!
Hey Yugawar, integrating the quest timer into the tracker is a super cool idea!
I’ll add it to the roadmap for 1.10, thanks for the suggestion!
EDIT: Opened #58 to track this feature.
And yet another small issue in v 1.9.2:
The title seems not able to show quest numbers, always staying "Quests" despite set to with numbers in the options.
Thanks.
Hey Rain, the numbers only appear if some of your quests aren’t visible.
However I could add another header option that’s “Quests (x/20)”.
Thanks for the work. v1.9.2 has almost provided everything I need. No more MonkeyQuest now.
More suggestions:
1. Have an tag of quest type abbreviations (such as elite:+, dungeon:D, raid:R, etc) in quest header text formatting option;
2. Show quest level and quest type abbr. in quest headers by default;
3. Have an option to format the zone header text, like that of the quest headers;
4. Have an option to disable mouseover tooltip on the quest, or add an option to change the position of the tooltip;
5. Have an option to adjust the gap between zone sections. It looks a bit loose at the moment;
6. "Link quests in chat by ctrl clicking their name" -- most addons use SHIFT+CLICK to link. Is it possible to change this?
Thanks again!
I'm glad you were able to make the switch! MonkeyQuest definitely filled a void that existed at the time, but it's UI always seemed a bit clunky to me.
Have an tag of quest type abbreviations (such as elite:+, dungeon:D, raid:R, etc) in quest header text formatting option;
I really like this suggestion, I'll have to think of a way to implement it into the current Quest Formatter.
However, I've opened #61 to track its progress.
Show quest level and quest type abbr. in quest headers by default;
I originally removed the level from the quest header because I wanted to make the defaults match the classic tracker as much as possible.
However that may not have been the best idea. Namely because the more complex I make the default quest formatter, the better example it is for users.
I'm down to make this change, however at the moment it's dependent on the previous bullet point.
Have an option to format the zone header text, like that of the quest headers;
Can you give me an example of how you'd like to format the zone headers?
Have an option to disable mouseover tooltip on the quest, or add an option to change the position of the tooltip;
I originally thought about disabling it by default and adding a toggle.
The reason I implemented it in the first place was for debugging reasons (if you enable developer mode it provides a bit of extra information about that quest).
Out of curiosity where would you want to anchor the tooltip?
There's quite a few options, and it doesn't even have to be anchored to the quest itself. Instead we could anchor it to the cursor or the entire window like the native tooltips do for hovering over spells and what not.
Have an option to adjust the gap between zone sections. It looks a bit loose at the moment;
I'll have to think about this as the gap between zones is entirely based on the quest padding at the moment.
The reason for this is it makes it easier to allow the user to enable / disable zone headers if its implemented this way.
Link quests in chat by ctrl clicking their name" -- most addons use SHIFT+CLICK to link. Is it possible to change this?
So this is a bit of a controversial subject actually.
I totally agree that Shift+Click is more natural for linking quests in chat.
However, Shift+Click is also the natural key combo for untracking quests since that's the combo the Quest Log uses.
I think the best option would be to allow users to override the keybinding.
I've opened #62 to track the progress of this feature request.
In reply to Stormie25:
the current anchor is perfect for me, whatever you have it set to. my tooltips appear just to the left of each quest on the tracker.
Hi. It's me again, Stormie!
Version 1.9.1 looks great, thank you.
One small thing, it's a very tiny thing, but I'd mention it nonetheless:
If I have the quest journal open, clicking a quest on the tracker doesn't turn to that quest in the journal. This only works if the journal is closed. And even with it closed, I have to sometimes click multiple times for it to change quest.
Examples so you can reconstruct this:
Example 1:
- track 2 quests
- click quest 2, it opens in the quest log (always works after a UI reload)
- click quest 2 again, or close the log,
- click quest 1 - quest 2 shows up.
- repeat process
- this time quest 1 shows up
Example 2:
- track quests
- open journal on any quest
- click a tracked quest on the tracker, that isn't the same as the currently selected quest shown in the journal
- nothing happens, quest doesn't change (nb: clicking to a different quest each time will result in nothing happening each time)
- a further click closes the journal
- a third click now opens it on the newly-selected quest
In short, the behaviour of changing the selected quest in the quest log by using the tracker frame seems to be behaving selectively. Sometimes it'll change the selected quest in the journal; sometimes not.
Apart from this, all golden. Soon, very soon, this addon will be finished and you can relax :)
Hey Daishar!
Thanks for taking the time to provide a couple of examples to reproduce this issue.
I'm deploying 1.9.2 now which contains a fix for this issue.
Regarding this addon getting close to being finished, I definitely agree.
I feel like a majority of the key features have been implemented at this point.
As such I'm going to be holding off on implementing any new features for a while and just focusing on bug fixes.
That way we can solidify the tracker in its current state and prevent these scenarios of functionality periodically breaking between minor versions.
There's an issue, when I first time log into the game, tracked objective present "?", after I reload UI, they present normal
