I have always liked using mods that replaced the Old Mariner with mermaid sprites, and then earlier today I remembered that Stardew Valley does canonically have a mermaid in-game. So... Here she is with a beautiful pendant to sell! ♡
This mod replaces the Old Mariner sprites, as well as editing the in-game dialogue when you interact with the character to better match the "mermaid-vibes". A very simple premise, and then I ended up adding several poses that she could show up with (up to twenty!) that loads randomly per day. Maybe she's relaxing, looking cheerful, playing with her hair, playing an instrument... You'll see what she's in the mood for every rainy day!
... Unless you don't want her poses to be randomized, then you can choose one of the three pose options in the mod config. You can also choose the color of the stone she sits on (vanilla or desaturated), disable/enable the changes to her dialogue, and edit the nickname the mermaid uses for you. All of these can be configured in the mod config.
