Starcraft: Mass Recall
Starcraft: Mass Recall is a project that recreates the classic Starcraft and Brood War gameplay as well as the entire single-player campaigns within the Starcraft 2 engine. Mass Recall contains 68 maps, 59 from the original Brood War game, 3 that were hidden or deleted on various Starcraft supports, and 6 from the 1998 demo campaign.
This mod can be used with any Starcraft 2 version, including the free Starter edition.

FRIENDLY DISCLAIMER: This mod and all campaign files are FREE. This means, all who work on Mass Recall are putting their free time into an incredibly comprehensive remaster of all of Starcraft and Brood War, including entirely new custom campaigns such as the Stukov Series and Enslavers Redux. Thus, there should be absolutely no expectations that bug fixes or new features will be released in any sort of timely manner. This is a "we'll get to it when we get to it" situation. Please be aware the modders here have work lives, family lives, and simply do not have the energy to maintain a lively work cycle to keep the mod 100% up to date. We do promise we will release updates when we feel they are ready to be released. We hope that you understand our position on this.

Auto install video guide by DeltronLive
Manual Installation:
If auto install fails and/or you would like to manually install SCMR, please carefully follow these steps:
- Download the required mod files (see the "Downloads" section above)
- Extract SCMR. Should look like this when extracted:
- Within this extracted SCMR folder, move the folder called "Starcraft Mass Recall" to the "Maps" folder of your Starcraft 2 Installation folder (Typically located in your primary C: drive -> Applications (mac) /Program Files (win) -> Starcraft II. Or basically, where Starcraft2.exe is located - Note: Create the "Maps" folder here if it doesn't exist!)
And then within this, it should look like the following now under /Maps/Starcraft Mass Recall: - Go back to that extracted SCMR folder and now move the "Mods" folder to the same place as the "Maps" folder. Should look like the following now:
- Download the Assets and Localization mod files (SCMRassets and SCMRlocal) and extract both to the "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory. Your Mods folder should now have FOUR mod files and look like the following:
Now installation is nearly done! Complete the following:
-
- From within Maps Folder, open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9) once your Campaign Editor is opened.
- When you're at the setup screen, save the game
- Go back to the save menu, highlight the save you just created and click the "show in folder" button. This will minimize Starcraft 2 and open the folder containing the save file
- Move or copy the save file to the saves folder under your account
(your documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (or any other subfolder)
if you can't find this folder, login to your account, go to campaign -> load, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the folder you need to move the save file into. - Open Starcraft 2 again and exit the setup map
- Login to your account and load the save via the campaign load menu
- Once loaded, click the "install" button
- When you're at the title screen, save the game again. You can now use this save to launch SCMR, the setup save is not needed
If you wish to play while logged on to battle.net, you will need to take the following steps:
- Launch Starcraft II using the battle.net launcher
- Alt-tab to desktop
- Launch Starcraft Mass Recall using the created shortcut
Note that you can still save and load any SCMR map, as long as you're logged in.
Bonus Campaign - Enslavers Redux Installation
Project Page - https://www.sc2mapster.com/projects/enslavers-redux
Zip Download - https://www.sc2mapster.com/projects/starcraft-mass-recall/files/2819343
This file includes a new 30-mission extra bonus campaign "Enslavers Redux" by OmegaWeaponX! This series contains 4 episodes, with 9 unique maps per Terran, Protoss, and Zerg races, with 3 epilogue maps. Content and story is based on the original Enslavers custom maps in Starcraft and Dark Vengeance maps in Brood War. Features brand new dialog and story, missions, and enhanced heroes with their own level-up mechanics! Learn what happens between the major Starcraft episodes and the events leading up to Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty!
While this custom campaign can be played stand-alone by opening up the unique Enslavers Redux Campaign Launcher and launching missions from there, it is also integrated into Mass Recall via the "Extras" menu. In order to load it properly in for the Mass Recall Launcher to work with this campaign, follow these instructions:
- Download the above zip file containing Enslavers Redux
- Go into your Starcraft 2 folder -> SCMR Mass Recall -> Extras:
- Within Extras, place your zip file, then uncompress it there. You should have a folder that says 8. Enslavers Redux. It should look like this now:
- You've got Enslavers Redux installed! Now from the SCMR Campaign Launcher go to Extras and click on the Enslavers Redux menu panel. You can launch any mission from here or open the Enslavers Redux Campaign Launcher and launch missions from there!
Troubleshooting
Make sure to check out the auto install and manual install video guides also linked above. The end result in these videos is the same, regardless of install method.
Also make sure you're using an up-to-date version of Starcraft 2.
Common issues:
- Param/values/whatever: if lots of texts are like that, you may have a problem with your Mods: delete SCMRmod and SCMRlocal, and re-download them from the links below. If it is only one or two lines (say, a mission objective), report it in the comments section (in that case, please specify which language you are playing in).
- Dependency cannot be loaded: The mods are not at the proper place. Check that you have put your mods (SCMRmod AND SCMRlocal) in the Mods folder, as on the picture below.
- Unable to load map: Your maps are not at the proper place. Check that you have put the episode files such as "1. Rebel Yell" in a folder "Starcraft Mass Recall", itself to be placed in Maps, as on the picture above.

Still having a tough time gettin them to start, someone make a video on youtube on how to get them to work?
Hello there! Great mod and excellent job.
It runs fine for me, untill i try to load an actual map :D
I'am getting this crappy "mod or map dependency that is no longer available" with blackscreen afterwards. Can someone please provide some solution, hank you.
RobertCL: When you say there is no option to save... are you unable to open the menu? (Esc, F10, etc.)
Because when he says to save, he literally just means open the menu, go to "save game", and save it. You should then be able to go in to "Load game" from battle.net and load the campaign menu from there.
To Gradius and Co: Guys, you have done an amazing job! This is something fantastic and adding the extra missions is like a dream come true for every fan. Someone mentioned donations,... I fully support this idea, you guys deserve it and then some. Well done and you have my sincere appreciation!
P.S. One little bug: I have a bit of an issue with the "First Strike" mission. It seems I can't see the mouse pointer nor the in-game U.I.
As for the installation process; after doing everything to the letter it gave me the "unable to find maps" error. What I did was delete everything, download the files again from the website and then doing it again. It worked fine afterwards.
HI Lyambda
Have you received the e-beer I sent you ;-)
OK it works but the team absolutely needs a PDF file with screenshots like the existing one for the 1st project.
Still one trouble: "when you're at the title screen, save the game again. You can now use this save to launch SCMR, the setup save is not needed"
I don't understand because at title screen (the giant blue head of a Protoss) there is no option to save. Even when I arrive on the main screen with all campaign choices there is no option to save (unless I start a specific scenario). Yes I can play the game and use a saved game. But each time I want to open Mass recall I still need to open SCM setup.SC2Save and click again on install.
Thx for your last help...
@RobertCL: Go
hello!
http://puu.sh/7X9Wq Not good
http://puu.sh/7X9WP Good
Further according to the instructions of the map SCMRsetup
Hi Lyambda,
Yes both maps already stand in MAPS directory of D:/StartcraftII The fact you add a subdirectory to MAPS directory does not change anything.
Come on I am not the only one around here for which the installation does not work. Something is surely missing in the instructions.
@RobertCL: Go Example D:\Games\Battle.net\Games\StarCraft II\Maps\Starcraft Mass Recall
Files "SCMRsetup" and "SCMR Campaign Launcher" are part of map pack 1 so we all guess they must be located in Maps directory. If not then the instructions must be changed!
What do you mean by Starcraft Mass Recall directory ? Accounts/xxx/xxx/Saves/Multiplayer ? (where SCMR setup.SC2save is located ?)
@DingoDyno69: Go
Files "SCMRsetup" and "SCMR Campaign Launcher" should be located in the "Starcraft mass Recall"
same problem as everyone else, it says unable to load map, there is no "install button" when you get to the load screen in your SC2 account, unless by load you mean just click on the file from your saved files in SC2
Same problem as RobertCL. Followed instructions to the letter, still unable to open map.
Hi! found some bugs. 1) shoots a firebat on cliffs. 2) despite the absence of a mark "broodwar tech" enemy builds medics. For example in the mission "Revolution"
Your campaigns will be released only in English, or there will be versions and for other languages how it was in http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/sc1-episode-1-rebel-yell/ and adjacent projects with it?
Hello,
I was a great fan of the previous version despite the few bugs. Here I cannot even install the game. I followed all steps carefully. Map has been tested, saved and moved to my account.
"once loaded, click the "install" button"
I click on Install and I have the error message: "unable to open map"
In the previous version of the game under the account/saved/multiplayer directory, SCMR Campaign Launcher.Map was stored in a "vsAI" directory. Apparently this is a step which is not required here anymore.
My Maps folder: 1. Rebel Yell ... 6. Queen of Blades Extra Test (including EditorTest.SC2Map) SCMR Campaign Launcher.SC2Map SCMRsetup.SC2Map
My Mods folder: SCMRmod.SC2Mod (79.169KB)
My Accounts/xxx/xxxSaves/Multiplayer folder SCMR setup.SC2Save (587 KB)
Any help would be highly appreciated.
The sole scenario I can play is the Resurrection IV using the map editor (but I can't manage the speed of units). Using the editor to play the standard maps of your mod lead to the same result: "unable to open map".
I had no problem to install the previous version of your mod. I respected each step, why can't it accept when I press the "install" button ?
@DEFILERRULEZ: Go
Well, we certainly tried. Hope you enjoy, and any feedback would be appreciated, of course. And hey, if there's anything you can use in your project, go ahead.
@Existor371: Go
I replied to you in the TL thread - we'll see. We'll probably have an update ready sometime soonish.
@Blazethesage: Go
Yes, the Retro version includes a lot of extra models. The missing / incorrect decals is one of the reasons many of the models are included as an alternate version.
@HopperWN: Go
You're welcome! Yeah, the missing mouse is probably caused by skipping the intro. Cutscene skipping is something we'll have to sort out sooner or later.
@Reeseman: Go
Yes, this is our home page now.
@HopperWN
Those portraits weren't used because they don't have a talking animation.
I can't comment on Duke or Dugalle's portraits (I will admit to being mildly disappointed that they still use the generic Battlecruiser and Jackson's Revenge portraits), but for Kerrigan, I see *NO* reason not to use the one in-game; this is practically what it was designed for. That IS Kerrigan before she was infested. They didn't change the portrait of any character that already had one. Units, yes, but not any actual characters.
Is this where the new updates will be shown here? And downloads?
Hi, guys,
I haven't run through all the remake, but you did a great job. So huge thanks for that.
There's a bug in a first terran Brood War mission when the mouse arrow doesn't appear in briefing window. maybe that's 'cause I Escaped the intro, but stil it doesn't show up.
Second: why didn't you use Duke's, Du Galle's, Kerrigans classic, etc. portraits for the mod. I've seen that some guys made them. Is there any problems with using them?
