☠ SILENT CITIES — 2.4.9 — The Hunt Begins ☠
"A new day, a new update. The world gets bigger, the shadows get longer, and something out there has your scent. Back up your saves."
CLASSIFIED REPORT: PROJECT ████████ — New Rare Boss
There is something new hiding in the ruins. It is rare, it is patient, and it will actively hunt you down. I am not going to spoil much about it here. You will figure it out when you hear it coming. Good luck.
🌍 Deep Earth & Forgotten Ruins — Worldgen Expand
The world generation has been tweaked. You will find completely new cave systems winding through the dense underground, alongside fresh structures scattered across the surface. More places to scavenge, more corners for things to hide in.
👁️ First Person Animations & Visual Fixes
First-person animations have been entirely reworked to make your desperate struggle look a little more immersive. Additionally, the annoying visual bug that left ugly model gaps when holding certain items has finally been patched out. Your hands actually fit your tools now.
⚙️ Performance & The Harichunk Reality
Performance is not worse than the last major release—it is actually slightly better now, probably. Do not celebrate too hard; C2ME (harichunk) is still in the pack and still blocking 5 to 15 percent of the server. That was the case in every previous release too, so you should be used to it by now. It stays because it speeds up world generation massively. It will change in the future, just not today.
☕ The Future — Java 21 & The Port
When CurseForge finally adds per-instance Java selection, things will get a lot smoother. Running proper JVM arguments on Java 21 instead of 17 will bring a noticeable performance lift, but we are at the mercy of the launcher for now. As for the rest? Quests are still on hold, and the 1.21.1 port is still looming on the horizon. You know how it is.
🐛 Bug Reporting — Still Lurking
Are there still bugs in this pack? Absolutely. Many minor fixes went into this build alongside a massive wave of mod updates, but new quirks will always crawl out of the code. If you find them, report them.
🔫 Superbwarfare — Readded
Superbwarfare has been readded to the pack. It will stay in until a suitable vehicle mod comes along to replace the gap it fills. Do not get too attached to the arrangement.
💡 Tip of the Week — Hide in Plain Sight
Parcool has a lesser-known feature that can save your life: you can physically hide inside certain blocks to break line of sight and wait out a horde. The following blocks support hiding:
- Leaves block
- Hay block
To use it, simply sneak into a supported block. The keybind is configurable, but comes preconfigured as Shift + < by default. If you are being chased and there is a leafy bush or a haystack nearby, use it.
"New caves to die in. Better animations to watch it happen. The hunt is on."
