The world is brimming with all manner of magical energies and ruins of ancient cultures come and gone. It's up to you to decide how you tap into these mystical forces and explore the dungeons that litter the world.
For a 1.12.2 sequel to this pack which features custom worldgen, a fully functional quest book, and a magic class system, check out Magiculture 2
Overview
Magiculture's focus is on magic, exploration and agriculture. Players are able to explore a large variety of magical mods including:
- Ars Magica 2
- Thaumcraft
- Blood Magic
- Botania
- Witchery
- Electrobob's Wizardry
It doesn't stop there, of course. There's also plenty of dungeons to explore, powerful loot to uncover and dangerous foes to destroy. Magiculture also includes several mods to help you decorate your soon-to-be wizard tower. Though the focus is on magic, there is still Immersive Engineering and EnderIO for those who wish to dabble in machinery on the side.
For those looking for a boost in performance - The mods Fastcraft by Player and Optifine by sp614x are not included but highly recommended. Better Foliage can also be disabled by pressing F8, should you find your framerate dropping around forests.

While exploring the Nether in single player with this modpack, eventually a crash occurs with the following warning:
[Client thread/WARN] [FML]: MOD HAS DIRECT REFERENCE System.exit() THIS IS NOT ALLOWED REROUTING TO FML!
[21:33:19] [Client thread/WARN] [FML]: Offendor: truetyper/TrueTypeFont.loadImage(Ljava/awt/image/BufferedImage;)I
[21:33:19] [Client thread/WARN] [FML]: Use FMLCommonHandler.exitJava instead
At this time, you can still move around but are unable to interact with anything, and all mobs become unresponsive. Any workarounds for this issue?
Some of the required files fail to download. I managed to manually install Baubles, but get stuck when trying to install PotionExtension-1.7.10-1.1.0 as it doesn't seem to see this file as the one it wants.
Edit: fixed this by putting the above file in the .minecraft/mods/1.7.10 folder
Want to keep this pack playable for archival purposes. Just pushed an update that should fix the Baubles download issue and Ender Compass download issue which prevented the pack from loading properly. Enjoy!
whenever i try to install it doesnt work it says downloading but its not
Why is the editor for hqm on when you first download the modpack on curse?
Is there a public server?
Hey man i am going to start a new modpack would you like to make Hardcore Questing Mode quests? Thanks!
Thanks for the offer, but we're just about done our HQM quests. We're using HQM as a guided tutorial for the various mods in the pack rather than as a story mode style questing system. We still have a bit of work to do to get them just right but they should be ready and released in an update soon!
