Traincraft is a transportation mod with a long past and it's finally back!
Have you ever wanted to transport your blocks and items from point A to point B in a more efficient way? Then Traincraft is your solution! We are working fine on your existing rail-system from Minecraft and Railcraft but we implement our own big switches and curves too! Traincraft adds more than 80 trains, wagons and other moving vehicles to the game.
Traincraft is compatible with Minecraft Forge up to 1.7.10. We're working hard on getting the mod updated to the latest Minecraft release but this will take some time.
Traincraft first came out in April 2011. At that time the mod was named Train and Zeppelin mod and only had one «steam» locomotive and one cart. The locomotive had no GUI and you couldn’t attach the cart to the locomotive. The first idea was to have a controllable powered minecart in which you could sit. The mod got so much support that it was decided to continue the adventure and add many more locomotives and carts.

Frankly, the version from 1.6.4 days was absolutely brilliant and if a 1.12.2 release brought nothing new to the table I'd still be thrilled.
In reply to ImmortanJerk:
porting the 1.6.4 build to 1.12 would require over 15,000 lines of code to be rewritten, and would introduce a LOT of new bugs in the process.
even the 1.7 build is over 10,000 lines for a 1.12 port, with likely the same bugs. And neither of these estimates include making the .json recipes and render configs for over 300 items and a couple dozen blocks.
In reply to EternalBlueFlame:
Oh, I'm aware. Mine wasn't the typical "you can just backport, rite" kind of post, just some wishful thinking.
wenn dann die 1.17 raus kommt wird es dann die mod auch für die version geben
Is difference in codes between 1.12 and 1.15/16 big?
In reply to kutilcze:
in some cases it is, but we don't anticipate it to be in ours.
Sadly it's one of those scenarios where we won't know until we get there, but we are going to get there this year.
Will we be seeing 1.16.4?
In reply to Mr_Endo_Gaming:
yes, 1.16 is planned to see a release.
our main priority right now is getting things stable and functional in 1.7, then we hit 1.12, then work begins adding back the multiblock tracks, after that we'll be working on a lot of new features alongside supporting a lot more versions including 1.16.
2021 is gonna be a big year for TC.
Oh and will there be some kind of multiblock-like rails (like huge tunnels made by multiblocks and superspeed trains, like a sphere - O - and inside it would be a train) Like those superfast trains inside a Vacuum space holded by magnets, and like animation when the train stops and there will be somekind of door that opens so we can leave, and the door would have to be airtight so no air would get into the tunnel, and if we could move in the vagons/carts like in immersive railroading where you have the ability to move in the vagon (or carts?).
Still I really love this mod and I know your hard at work (its worse, cause of Covid), and this is just a mod suggestion that came into my mind.
Have a nice day.
Okay so is the port to 1.12.2 just a side project or is it a top priority thing, because I have waited so long for 1.12.2 Traincraft and you don't know how happy it makes me to finally see it's being ported.
In reply to deadpetteri:
Support for new versions is a top priority thing for sure, and so is playability, both of which are good reasons why it's taking so long (over 3 years in development actually!).
The mod has gotten rewritten from the ground up, very little of the old code was re-used, really just the sounds. In fact even forge code was avoided where possible to make cross-version support easier. And there were a lot of changes made to fix longstanding bugs, to implement and make room for lots of new features, and to make it dramatically easier for not only us to add new trains and stock, but even for add-ons. This also isn't just 1.12, there's a whole slew of version support planned for 2021 from old faithful 1.7.10 all the way to the shiny new 1.16, and we plan to keep support of all of them concurrently, so no one gets left behind.
If you wanna check out the new stuff take a look at the 5.0.1 build for 1.7, this is the same fully rewritten source we will be using for future versions including 1.12. There's still a 5.0.2 build planned because 5.0.1 had a lot of bugs and was not playable in survival, depending on how good/bad 5.0.2 goes we'll decide if it's time to jump to 1.12. Right now the priority is making sure we can provide a release that will meet expectations.
For what it's worth, I've already gone over all the necessary changes for adding 1.12 builds and it's expected it will only take a couple days when we're ready.
hey is there going to be a Amtrak trains and is there going to be more steam trains?
In reply to coolwolfgamer44567:
Nearly all of our trains and stock are made by the community, so there's really no to-do list or plans for what trains and stock to add, however, we do have a MASSIVE backlog of submitted content, which I can't even keep track of, that we'll be going over later this year once the new version is up to expectations. If you wanna join in on that, check out Eternal's discord, there's a lot of helpful and experienced modelers there.
hype
Can you just tell me the exact release date for 1.12?
In reply to hetzerlol:
We had one, and then everything kinda went wrong. So, probably won't make that mistake again.
If it helps, the 1.7 build of 5.0 uses the same source we will be using for 1.12, and our focus has been working on fixes for all the bugs in that before we move it to 1.12.
Looking forward to the 1.12 branch. I'm sure it'll be ready when it's ready. The minecart hauler is just indispensable, so much fun to use.
In reply to ImmortanJerk:
hey, I like using the cart hauler too!
