Tails adds in a bunch of different tails, ears and wings including various subtypes all of which you can colour to your liking!
It's a primarily client side mod with an (optional) server side component for syncing tails across clients. However even if the server doesn't have the mod installed, other players with the mod can still see your tail! All you have to do is use the fancy in-game editor then export a modified version of your skin (don't worry, we use the unused pixels so there will be no visible change on your skin) and upload that to Minecraft skin servers and bam, other players can see your tail without having the mod server side!
Each tail is unique and different too with custom animations for each one to make them feel alive rather then something just tacked on. In the future, animations will be dynamic to what you are currently doing and react accordingly.
And of course, each part is customisable. Partss can have up to 3 different tints applied to them, with the entire full RGB colour available so that's over 16.7 million different colour choices per tint! Certain parts have subtypes so they are similar to the "main" part but with slight variations such as added parts etc and in the future, you'll also be able to select from different textures per part to make it even more unique to you.
You can open in the in-game editor by opening up the in-game menu (When you press Esc) and clicking "Tails Editor" button in the lower middle. Most of the buttons in the mod will have a tooltip to explain what they do but just have a mess about and see what you can make!
But I'm sure you're sick of reading. Check out the images section for some screenshots of what it looks like in action and then give it a whirl!
Curious about what tails are gonna be added in the future? Take a gander at this spreadsheet!
Incompatible Mods
If you use the following mods, Tails won't render correctly as they alter the player model. I always try to aim for compatibility so this list may be updated over time.

Hi I'm on 1.14 can y'all also make 1.14. I really want cat ears and a cat tail. Please
After trying to find any solution for the bug with Ears and Mouth don't move with the Head. I found another Mod who fix the problem and is "More Player Models", apparently this mod fix that bigged issue.
Im so happy, i really like this mod and didn't see any solution for a good while, but finally found the solution. <3
PD: If you install the Aether Legacy Mod, this fix the same problem, but with a few issues, and probably will enter in conflict with More player Models mod.
Thanks so much for make this mod. :)
will this mod work with MorePlayersModels? the reason I ask is private but will message you about it.
In reply to dragoncraftplaz:
Yes, im not the owner but i make test, and the Mod Work Perfectly with this and in fact, Fix the error "the ears/mouth/anything-on-the-head parts don't move with the head".
In reply to Lobito130:
how?
In reply to dragoncraftplaz:
Fox Tail required of FoxLib for a perfect function. Without FoxLib the ears, muzzle or any part on the head, don't move with the head. Sadly "FoxLib" is not update for the 1.12.2.
But "More Players Models" fix this problem and he ears, muzzle or any part on the head can move with the head from mod Tails.
You can test and you will it :)
Sorry if i can't explain good, my english is medium good.
is this mod for 1.12.2
In reply to dragoncraftplaz:
Yep.
How do you get the mod
can you add the lion tail?
Is there a way to put these tails on Custom NPC using the CustomNPC mod?
In reply to dragoncraftplaz:
These two mods should be able to work together! I've used them both in the past.
In reply to dragoncraftplaz:
I believe you should be able to. Just create the tails you want to in 1.8.9 and extract them, edit the skin, then upload the skin somewhere like a private Discord server and copy the URL, then paste the URL in the field for skin URLs for the NPC.
This mod is great, and I'm super happy with the large amount of customization. However, I have a few main issues with the mod. First, something awkward happens where when using an elytra or any of the wings from the Wings mod, the parts become... detached. For example the tail model sticks upward when in flight, and the muzzle and ears float over or beside the player. Also, I’m wondering if you are planning to create other ear and wing models? The muzzles and tails have plenty of options, but the other two feel more limited. Additionally, do you have any plans for adding any horn models? It would add that extra level of customization that aren't often common in other mods. Some things as basic as ram horns, dragon horns, etc. I also think a 1.14 optimization would be cool, but I'm okay with playing on 1.12. Overall, this mod has great potential for expansion. Keep up the good work!
Tails don't render proper if you have any of the four arms/legs upgrades from the Cyberware mod (Robotics Parts is the 1.12.2 port).
Though, might be a way around it. I think the problem is mostly with the skin, and it is possible to save the "Tails" parts as a skin which can be added to the main skin, right?
How do you export a skin? You say it's possible but I don't see any buttons for exporting.
In reply to Jusey01:
When you complete your player model, you can save it as a new entry in the ‘Library’ tab, which you then select and can export. The button for exporting looks like a door with an arrow pointing out.
In reply to TheWildDash:
The exports a code, not necessarily a texture file. It's been mentioned that the textures for the tails stuff can be applied to the actual skin itself, but I don't know how that would look.
In reply to Jusey01:
Here's the article on how to export as a skin:

I wish you could make the tails mode in the newest mincraft too because i dont know how to get the older one and i only have the new one

Look up ‘Forge 1.12.2’ in your browser, then find the official Forge website where you can download that version.
