3d Skin Layers
Replaces the usually flat second layer of player skins with a 3d modeled version. Will automatically switch to the vanilla 2d rendering when players are further away than 12 blocks in order to increase the framerate. Also supports transparent parts on things like glasses!
Since this mod is purely visual and fully clientside, so it doesn't have to be installed on servers and works everywhere!

FAQ
Can this be done with armor/mobs too?
I'll look into it at a later point.
How do I get a skin for this?
The skins are normal Minecraft Skins. Go onto namemc or other sites, download a skin and upload it in the Minecraft Launcher.
Help the layers are gone!
Check under Options > Skin Customization that you didn't accidentally disable your skin layers.
Support via or Github! The comments are not there to report bugs/crashes/get help.
You should add that this is incompatible with the Epic Fight Mod, do to that mod changing the player character model the 3D layers just sort of float in the air next to your head.
This mod is still wonderful tho.
In reply to sim37546:
Every mod related to the player model/animations is incompatible with the Epic Fight Mod. Nothing I can do about that.
In reply to tr9zw:
There's a keybind in EpicFightMod to toggle between a combat mode and a regular mode. The regular mode is the same as the default minecraft model, whereas the combat mode is the one where things break. Would it be possible to automatically disable the 3d layers when in combat mode?
I know Curios does it, but I'm not sure how, or if it's EpicFightMod disabling Curios automatically.<-might be false, now that I test it.EDIT: Okay, so apparently that isn't on by default. You can go into the configs & change "filter_animation" to "true" to get this effect.
1.17.1 update?

In reply to iiixld:
?!?
In reply to iiixld:
It's been here for a while now lol
it's a good mod ^^
do you think you can make HD skin compatible by adding a why to upload the skin ingame?
Cool mod but when you hit someone with shaders it looks a bit weird and my fps drops with like 10 when I look at someone
In reply to MarijnIsN00B:
Probably not much I can currently do about shaders acting weird, and the fps drop is to be expected since it increases the amount of geometry a player has multiple times. There is a reason vanilla Minecraft has it in 2d^^.
crashed when i try to run it with optifine lol
In reply to xxradw0lf1xx:
Optifine has an issue with forge currently. Consider using Fabric + Sodium or try with different optifine/forge versions. Other option: you have an outdated Forge and require a newer version/mixinbootstrap for mixin mods to work.
In reply to xxradw0lf1xx:
Uh... I use optifine and nothing happen :))
There's a bug when you respawn (due to dying or teleporting) that makes layers disappear or look black (your main hand looks black after dying or tp and it fixes after some F5's)
And there is another bug that disappears layers from your back when shifting (your back's layers only)
In reply to dragonpunishment:
The layers vanishing is a side effect of the player entity being recreated. Going to fix that in the next version. Same with the body layer not being located correctly when sneaking.
you are a legend! thanks for porting to forge 1,16,5!!!!
Does this apply to armor textures? and if not, can you make it apply to armor in a future update?
can you do a 1.8.9 for bedwars pls it would make my day
