Updated models, code, textures, added weapons, blocks, a really big update!

Hiccup's Legacy is a How To Train Your Dragon inspired mod, bringing rideable dragons, weapons and armors, plants and more mechanics to Minecraft

-For now, the dragons in the game are:

15 Dragons, including:

  • Night Fury
  • Hideous Zippleback
  • Deadly Nadder
  • Gronckle
  • Monstrous Nightmare
  • Whispering Death
  • Smoothering Smokebreath
  • Flightmare
  • Hobgobbler
  • Night Terror
  • Terrible Terror
  • Fireworm
  • Death Song
  • Light Fury
  • Speed Stinger

PLANTS

There are 4 plants at the moment, Daggas, Dragon nip, Angel fern and Dragon Root. By combining 2 Dragon nips, 1 Dagga  and 1 Lilly of the Valley, you can make a Cure Mixture*, which can be combined  with a bucket (can cure other  mobs and you, easier to make but 1 mixture = 1 cure) or brewed with bottles (can't cure other mobs, but is more cost efficient  since 1  mixture = Up to 3 cures for you)

The other plants have different properties. Dragon root can be found in forests and, once right-clicked, will expose their roots, that can be harvested. The flower, part of the plant that is exposed, can be broken for a chance of getting it's seeds, which can be planted. Once fully grown (they are immune to bone meal, so you have to wait), you have 2 choices:

Right-click it to get the roots

Break it to get increased seed drops (will not get the plant's root)

I recommend balancing between those two in order to get an efficient farm

With the dragon root in hands, you can craft it into slices by placing it in any crafting slot. Once sliced, you can click with it on a cauldron with a heat source underneath to make a dragon root "soup". That soup, once right-clicked with an arrow, gives you a tipped arrow of poison (can be used twice for each slice). Once used, the cauldron reverts back to it's empty state.

Still on the dragon root slices, it can be crafted with yak milk, brown mushroom and a bowl to get a dragon nip stew, which, besides giving a lot of food and saturation, can work in two ways:

Cure most effects, good or bad, related with movement speed (like mining fatigue and speed) - 90% chance

Make you nauseous and poisoned - 10% chance

That behaviour comes from the uncertain effects of the dragon root in the human diet

Finally, the Angel Fern, a small plant found in coniferous forests, bluish-white in coloration and with some interesting uses.

Once on it, any animal will get decreased walking speed but a lot of jump increase, useful to get up the trees and escape predators;

If harvested, it can be used with an awkward potion to make a slow falling potion

The colored plants, like Dagga and Angel Fern, can be crafted into dyes and all of the small plants can be crafted into suspicious stews

*The cure serves for the new disease, the Eel Pox. The contamination process is uncertain, but you only have 10 minutes to make one of those cures before you die. Within the 10 minutes, bad effects will start appearing, like mining fatigue, slowness and blindness, so be quick.

DRAGONS

Most of the dragons have custom attacks, being R and X the default Primary and Secondary attacks for every rideable dragon

Still for these, G and K are the keys to, respectively, catch prey and enable/disable landing while flying

The types of prey you can catch while flying your dragons, as for now, are:

  • Yaks
  • Cows
  • Pigs
  • Chickes
  • Sheeps

In order to catch a prey, you need to, while flying a dragon, get really close to it and press G (by default). In those cases, disabling landing by pressing K is useful

By giving a gronckle the Gronckle Iron Mixture (crafted with 3 calcites, 2 sandstones, 1 obsidian, 1 raw iron and a bucket), one can make gronckle iron, a powerful and light material for making all kinds of weapons

The new gamerule, "villagerDisease", can prevent villagers from getting the eel pox when false

(The random disease feature can be quite annoying)

At last, we have a new scale shedding mechanic, in which dragons that have a ceiling above their heads and, thus, can't fly because of it, will shed scales after sometime.

This scales can be crafted into new armors with a slime ball, a gronckle iron hammer and a piece of lether armor

There is no general taming process as of yet, so, to fly the dragons, just right-click them and look almost straight up, they will take flight

(note that the animations are default so they might be quite strange, still trying to improve it)

There are 1 tameable dragon as of now:

-Hobgobblers can be tamed with most fishes and will follow you in an 8 block radius

ANIMALS

The Yaks, new kind of "cow" in the game, are a pretty good source of food and fur, the last of which can be crafted into fur blocks and carpets, similar to wool.

Their milk can be used in a Milk Pot (Crafted with a bucket and a stick on it's right) to make 3 types of new food:

-Chocolate Yak Milk - Make with yak milk, cocoa beans and sugar, gives Speed 3 for some seconds (+saturation and food)

-Yaknog - Like eggnog, but made with yak milk, eggs and kelp, gives a lot of saturation and food value, being for a great food choice

-Glow Cheese - Made with Yak Milk, Glow Lichen and Bone meal, gives you the glowing effect, as well as food and saturation

WEAPONS

There are 2 special weapons in the mod, Hiccup's Inferno sword and Heather's axe.

Both can be crafted, although i recommend using JEI for the recipes are pretty different from the usual

The Inferno sword can be right-clicked in it's retracted state to go to one of the two states bellow:

-Extended sword with no fire

-Extended sword with fire (needs to have Monstrous Nightmare Gel in inventory)

Heather's axe, when crafted, have the closed and the extended states. The closed, although dealing less damage, works like an axe, while it's counterpart works as a sword (cool with combat mods such as Better Combat)

As i am working alone in this mod, your feedback is really welcome!

Special thanks to MsChomper for the help with models and sounds!

Disclaimer: SOME of the models and parts of them are really inspired by the paid DLC on minecraft bedrock edition. Some you will see the resemblance but, for obvious reasons, not all of them are and all of the models i did myself, with different choices, styles and designs.
