Fabric API is the core library for the most common hooks and intercompatibility measures utilized by mods using the Fabric toolchain.
- Fabric’s APIs are lightweight and modular, making porting faster and game instances leaner.
- Fabric development targets snapshots as well as release versions, allowing earlier mod updates and more informed community planning.
- The Fabric toolchain is available for everyone to use - even if you only want to use some of it!
More infomation and full installation instructions can be found on the Fabric website and support can be found on the Fabric discord server.
This is SEPARATE from the Fabric loader! You need both for most mods! Keep in mind the project requires the Fabric mod loader!

How is Fabric Different from Forge?
In reply to xwingsam9285:
From my understanding its more lighweight than forge which allows for faster updates/porting to new versions of MC and requires less PC resouces to run but this comes at a price of what mod devs can do.
So if Fabric is like clay that can be easy to mold and does not require such specialized tools,
Forge is more like a 3D printer giving you more options at higher cost.
If you want to get more info i recomend reading up on fabric website https://fabricmc.net/
In reply to JestemZbychu:
I have Fabric, but I don't know how to create my own Mod. :(
In reply to xwingsam9285:
Even though a month later or so thought I'd post what I know
All info you need is on the Fabric website https://fabricmc.net/,
the Fabric loader is at https://fabricmc.net/use/installer/
documentation for making mods is at https://fabricmc.net/wiki/doku.php
and the Fabric Discord has Mod Development channels that are really helpful. https://discord.com/invite/v6v4pMv
Otherwise there is a few Fabric Youtube tutorials for 1.14 to 1.18.1 https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=fabric mod development tutorials
Good luck.
In reply to JestemZbychu:
The best comparison or analogy of the two I've seen. Never thought of Fabric/Forge that way but I guess they do kind of fit that of clay/3D printer in terms of how they can be used/what they are capable of or complexity as I found Fabric easy but Forge hard to code for.

Deam thamks, guess having background in art and no actual programing knowlege can have its benefits XD
In reply to JestemZbychu:
No Problem :)

Hi modmuss50 / sfPlayer1!
Is FabricAPI for 1.19 Experimental Snapshot under development?
Just use the version for 1.18.1 but do dependency override
https://fabricmc.net/wiki/tutorial:dependency_overrides
In reply to crazydoggo_:
I have just released a 1.19 version of Fabric API. You will also need to update to the latest version of Fabric Loader (0.13.3).
Have fun :)
1.19 experimental snapshot version when?
